Year Level Semester Moments

Term 3 in Year 1 has been a blast!

We have focused on a lot of big projects! One of these was our narrative writing. The students have diligently created, planned and designed their own imaginative stories. Each story has been unique and exciting to read. We can't wait for the grand reveal at our "Meet the Author" event in week 10.

Another exciting project has been our Inquiry unit, in which the students have asked themselves the question: "What are the different features of places and what makes them special?" Students engaged in meetings with Ms Neophytou, surveyed parents and peers, designed a modern gym and will take action in the coming weeks, using what they have learned.

Year 4 - Term 3 Reflection

It's been an exciting Term 3 for our Year 4 students as they've delved into a world of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Here's a recap of the incredible STEM activities and projects your children have been a part of this term:

1. Science Investigations:

The term wouldn't be complete without Science experiments! Our budding scientists conducted experiments exploring the principles of physics. They made friction marble runs, discovered the wonders of magnets, and explored the properties of gravity.

2. First Fleet and Early Australian History Explorations:

Students used their problem-solving skills and creativity to design and build structures using various materials. This activity encouraged teamwork and critical thinking as they engineered huts, houses and other buildings used in the colonisation of Australia.

Year 5 - Term 3 Reflection

This month the Year 5 cohort had a fun filled few days away at the Oasis Camp at Mount Evelyn. We tried our hands at archery, rock climbing, laser tag a ropes course and a flying fox.  We also enjoyed some delicious meals. In the classroom, we had the most fun participating in a reading café and book week activities, and having our parents and grandparents join us in the classroom for a morning of fun.

We also planned, created, edited and published a range of styles of writing including biographies, procedural texts and book reports. We have learnt more about fractions, appropriate units of measurement for length, area, volume, capacity and mass and learnt how to measure, compare and construct angles. We posed questions and collected categorical data, constructed data displays then described and interpreted data sets, using them to describe patterns, trends and relationships.

During inquiry, we studied the influence of people, including First Nations Australians and people on the characteristics of places. We explored the management of Australian environments, including managing severe weather events such as bushfires, floods, droughts and their consequences.

We learnt about key values and features of Australia’s democracy, including elections, and the roles and responsibilities of elected representatives and how members of communities with shared beliefs and values work together to achieve a civic goal.

We set up a classroom monetary system and proposed actions and responses to national and local issues, debating them in our class parliament.

Year 7 - Navigating Adventures, Achievements, and Imagination

It's been an exciting and eventful month for our Year 7 students. They've been actively participating in various activities, demonstrating their enthusiasm, teamwork, and commitment.

Athletics Carnival and Basketball Rally Day

Our Year 7 students showcased their athleticism and sportsmanship at the recent Athletics Carnival and Basketball Rally Day. The students eagerly participated in a range of track and field events, demonstrating their determination and competitive spirit. We're proud to announce that our girls' basketball team secured the first-place position in the tournament, highlighting their dedication and skill. Congratulations to the team for their outstanding achievement!

Chapel Service - Exploring the Life of Moses and the 10 Commandments

In our recent chapel service, Year 7 students took center stage as they delved into the life of Moses and the importance of the 10 Commandments. The students engaged in thoughtful discussions, presentations, and creative interpretations of the lessons we can learn from this important biblical figure. Their understanding and insights truly impressed both students and staff alike.

Creativity in the classroom.

Our students are currently immersed in the "Create Your Own World" project, drawing inspiration from the captivating realm of Narnia. Using their imagination and creativity, they're crafting unique worlds filled with complex structures and captivating stories. This project allows them to explore their artistic talents and storytelling abilities, while also encouraging individuality and creative thinking. We look forward to witnessing the imaginative worlds they will bring to life.

Exciting Science Adventures for Year 7 and 8 Learners!

It's been an electrifying time in the world of Year 7 and 8 learners as they embarked on a journey of scientific discovery that ignited their imaginations and fueled their passion for the wonders of the natural world. What better way to celebrate Science Week than with a hydrogen-themed escape room challenge? Year 7 and 8 learners put their critical thinking skills to the test as they unraveled clues, deciphered riddles, and tackled puzzles – all with a science twist. The hydrogen escape room wasn't just about solving mysteries; it was a testament to the boundless fun that science can offer. It highlighted that scientific exploration isn't confined to textbooks and classrooms; it's a thrilling adventure waiting to be unlocked. The experiences of Year 7 and 8 learners with Bunsen burners, test tubes, scales, and escape rooms have ignited a flame of curiosity that will continue to burn brightly as they navigate the ever-evolving landscape of science.
