NCASA Workshop – Education for Year 11 students
Over the last few years NHS has partnered with the prevention team from the Northern Centre Against Sexual Assault (NCASA) to deliver workshops and programs that complement our school’s Respectful Relationship programs.
With a focus on healthy relationships and consent education, NCASA’s prevention team work to educate and inform young people and advocate for those who have experienced sexual assault.
Over the last few weeks, Year 11 students have had the opportunity to participate in a series of workshops that ensure students receive appropriate education and resources. Topics covered in these workshops included:
- Talking about consent
- Talking about pornography
- Talking about how to be a good bystander
- Talking about what sexual assault means
Thank you to Year 11s who participated and provided thoughtful and insightful contributions to the sessions. Thank you also to the hard-working staff from NCASA who are committed to supporting victims/survivors of sexual assault and ensuring that young people have the resources, support and understanding to engage in these challenging topics.
R U OK? Day
R U OK? Day is coming up on Thursday 14 September. It is our National Day of Action when we remind Australians that every day is the day to ask, 'are you OK?' and start a meaningful conversation whenever they spot the signs that someone they care about might be struggling with life. Keep an eye out for information about how NHS will celebrate R U OK? Day this year.
