From the Principal 

We are now well into Term 3 and our Year 12s are continuing their countdown towards their final classes. At the end of Term they will be undertaking their practice exams in preparation for the end of year exam period. Our younger students are experiencing their Semester 2 electives and will be engaged in their learning program. Thanks for all of the work that has been undertaken in Subject Selections for planning for next year. Our timetabling team are now working towards building the list of subjects based on the student preferences that we have received. 

Our Year 10 adventurers have returned from their Northern Territory outback expedition this week. You can read more about their incredible experiences in this issue. Thanks again to the staff who went and the students are to commended for the way that they engaged themselves in all of the activities. 

In last week’s newsletter it was great to read about the Aero club, this student led initiative was started through an application for one of the school’s Innovate Grants. The students were successful in their grant application and are now enjoying finding out about flight. It is even more heartening to hear that they are keen to share the experience with others and are running their club each Friday for students that are interested. We hope to have even more Innovate projects to report on before the end of the year. 

This week is the first of our Parent Teacher Student Conversations. I hope that you have been able to organise times with our teachers to discuss progress in your child’s learning and the Learning Behaviours that will support their learning growth. 

Just a reminder that we are looking for as many families as possible to complete our 2023 Opinion Survey – it will only take 20 minutes to complete! Please see the recent Compass Newsfeed. It is a great opportunity to put forward your opinion to assist with our future planning. 

You have hopefully seen posters advertising our Friends of Northcote Comedy Night around the community and in our Newsletter. I hope that you can organise a few other families from your child’s class to come along and have a great evening of Comedy and laughs.
