Year 12 Theatre Studies Excursion 

Year 12 Theatre students attended their final play “Miss Peony” at the Fairfax Theatre, Arts Centre last week. The play written by Australian Michelle Law explored the world of pageantry, and the expectations of a culture Miss Peony is a story about the unique sense of displacement experienced by third-culture children and an exploration of intercultural racism and lateral violence among Chinese nationalities. The dialogue was performed in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin. Surtitles are used in simplified and traditional Chinese and English, played concurrently. 

As they prepare for their final assessments, exam, and monologue performances, I am particularly proud of the students’ insight, talent and appreciation for theatre.
