The Feast of the Assumption

Last Tuesday we celebrated the Feast of the Assumption. The Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (August 15) celebrates the entry of Mary into heaven, body and soul. The belief that Mary’s body (as well as her soul) was “assumed” into heaven was defined by Pope Pius XII on November 1, 1950. Within our classrooms, we celebrated with a Liturgy honouring the blessed love and hope that Mary gives us in our lives.

Celebration of Grandparents

Pope Francis proclaimed the World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly to be celebrated on the fourth Sunday in July each year – July 23 in 2023. The Day is marked near the Feast of Sts Joachim and Anne, the grandparents of Jesus. Although we are a couple of weeks late, we honour all those grandparents and special older people who make our lives so much better through their love and genourisity.

Prayer for Grandparents

Lord God almighty, bless our grandparents with long life, happiness, and health. May they remain constant in your love and be living signs of your presence to their children and grandchildren. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen
