A reminder that tomorrow is our Book Week Parade day. The students will parade around the bock, exiting the Barrington Street gate and turning left.  Following the parade, Grandparents (and others) are welcome to enter the learning areas and spend some time looking around or doing an activity with the children.

I shall be on leave from Monday, September 4 till Tuesday, September 19.  During my absence, Mrs Sparapani and Mr Meixner will be sharing the duties of principal.

This term, year 4 students will be participating in an assessment in Religious Education for all year 4 students in South Australian Catholic schools. This is an on-line assessment and consists of 35 multiple choice questions. There is a letter coming home today with all year 4 students, giving detailed information about the assessment.  Please do not hesitate to speak with Mr Meixner or Mrs Sparapani if you have any questions..

The students have been working diligently to finalise their pieces of work for this year's St Gabriel's SALA (South Australian Living Artists Festival) Exhibition. This bi-annual event for our school, showcases the artistic flair of our students. Their creations are displayed in a "pop up" Art Gallery in the Sacred Heart Centre commencing with our official opening on Tuesday, August 29 at 5pm.

Our Tournament of Minds Teams are putting the final touches on their entries for this year's competition. Tournament of Minds (TOM) is a program for all primary and secondary students providing the opportunity to solve authentic, open-ended challenges that foster creative, divergent thinking whilst developing collaborative enterprise, excellence and teamwork. Challenges are set in the following disciplines... the Arts, Language Literature, Social Sciences and STEM. Under the direction of Mr Burness and Mrs Sparapani, St Gabriel's is entering two teams in the competition to be staged at Adelaide High on Sunday, September 10.

A continued reminder to please adhere to the parking signage around the school. The Enfield Port Adelaide Council has been doing regular patrols with many vehicles being fined for not adhering to the signage and double parking.  Whilst a fine is a burden, a child being injured due to illegal activity is something no-one wants to be the cause of.
