Dear Holy Family Parents and Carers,

First Holy Communion

This Saturday, children from Holy Family will receive the Sacrament of Eucharist for the first time - their First Holy Communion, at Our Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Killara. This is the first group of children from our school to receive this very important sacrament, this year. It is always wonderful to see all the children and their families, including their extended family, making this a priority. For many children this will be a day they will never forget.

Can I ask you all to keep in your prayers Olive, Emery, Sienna and Oscar who will make their First Holy Communion this Saturday and to pray that their families will continue to gift them with a faith that is true and active. May God continue to bless you in your role as parents and grant you wisdom, patience and hope in this, our next generation.

PARENTING

Hopefully, some of the most cherished footprints left in the hearts of children will be those of their parents. There is a natural intimacy between parents and children when unconditional love is interchanged.

Parental love is essential for the development, even survival, of children during their formative years. The bonds that are formed between parents and children are the essence of what is most human with in children and give them the basic building blocks that structure their personalities. It is important that parents be actively involved with children at close range.

Parenting has been likened to an artist’s palette. Each parent makes a contribution to the palette from all the elements of their being: emotions, intellect, manner of expression, personal integrity, Christian values and all that goes to make up the rich tapestry that is each of their lives. Their children come to that palette and, according to their level of maturity, dip their brush of life onto the palette and begin to fill in their own image. The greater the riches and abundance that are on the palette, the more positive and balanced will be the images of the children and the richer their life will be as they mature towards their own adulthood.

Of course, parenting occurs within the context of family and Mother Theresa offers this observation about the life of the family: “The most natural thing is family life. What keeps the family together, what nourishes the life of the family, is that surrender to each other; is that accepting of each other.”

“Heavenly Father, You have given us a model of life in the Holy Family of Nazareth. Help us to make our family another Nazareth where love, peace, and happiness reign.

Help us to stay together in joy and sorrow through family prayer. Teach us to see Jesus in the members of our family, especially in His distressing disguises.

May we love one another as You love each one of us and forgive each other’s faults as

You forgive our sins.

Amen.”

Zing Dance lessons - whole school event

On Tuesday, 19th September (Week 10) we will be hosting a whole school dance performance and would love to show-off our dance moves. All parents, grandparents, carers and friends are warmly welcome to attend this grand event in Mackillop Hall.

Expressions of Interest – School Sports Committee

Creating a school sports committee is a great way to promote and organize sports related activities within Holy Family. This committee can help plan and execute various sports events, ensure the well-being of student athletes, and foster a culture of physical fitness and sportsmanship.

The committee would consist of:

- 2 or 3 parents, student representatives, sports teacher and the principal

The sports committee would meet once a term to plan, evaluate, and execute sports-related initiatives, ensuring a vibrant and inclusive sports culture within the school. Communication and collaboration among members are key to its success.

Coles Development Update from Tim Cassar - Site Manager

Over the last few days we have managed to complete works onsite including:

Installation of the second tower boom pump.
Another large slab on ground pour with only one more pour remaining which is scheduled for the end of next week.
FRC to LG1-pour #1 columns.
Continue with FRC to Lower Ground 1- pour #1-4.

Works scheduled for the remainder of the week include:

Complete concrete to remainder of LG1-pour #1 columns.
Complete in ground services to the final SOG area at the Balfour St entry.
Continue with steel and formwork to LG1- pour #1.
Continue with Formwork to LG1 pour #2-4.
Complete FRC to the travellator base.
Load out the last of the spoil from services excavations.

Position Vacant

The Diocese of Broken Bay is seeking applications for the Clergy Care Coordinator role. This is a permanent, full-time position, based at the Chancery offices in Pennant Hills but will be required to travel throughout the Diocese to provide care leadership and services to help our clergy live well and age positively

The Clergy Care Coordinator supports our clergy in their health and medical requirements, optimising their independence and maintaining a quality of live and dignity as they age.

You’ll build and maintain strong relationships to assist clergy with their various health and medical needs including to age in place, provide information on how to access support services & coordinate those services and providers. You’ll provide information about aging and the aged care sector to advocate on behalf of sick clergy and retired priests, and to ensure access to pastoral and practical support.

You’ll need to have an understanding of the physiology and psychology underpinning aging and how to identify changes in retired clergy and have a proactive and practical ability to seek appropriate services.
