Welcome Back and Welcome!

This week, despite some indifferent weather, it has been great to get around to every classroom to say hi to staff and students.

We’ve also welcomed back two of our school leaders following periods of Maternity Leave.  Amy Prior, Assistant Principal – Teaching & Learning, is resuming her role, part-time on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.  Learning Specialist, Jacinta MacKenzie is returning on Wednesdays and Thursdays in her leadership role as the school’s Learning Enhancement Leader.  She is also teaching in MTA providing leadership release for Shane Holloway.

The school has also welcomed two new members to the school Administration Team. Carly Van Bremen joins our finance team as Assistant Business Manager and Nicole Mattingley joins Sophie in the front office and First Aid.  With much-loved Robyn Miller retiring at the end of the year and Jennifer Culshaw’s departure in Term 3, Carly, from Yarra Road PS, and Nicole, from Antonio Park PS, bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team.

Term 3 Holiday Facilities Enhancements

Over the holidays a number of school facilities projects were taken to completion. These included:

  • Finalisation of the school’s State Government funded Minor Capital Works project reinstating floating ceilings around the school.
  • Installation of sinks and cabinetry in the Visual Arts #2/OSHC Pavillion, Prep and Year 1.

In addition, the first steps of our next major maintenance project took place with interior painting in Year 1. This is the beginning of a scheduled multi-year project painting the interior and exterior of the school. This, along with the ongoing cyclic replacement of carpeting, furniture, air conditioning units and garden renovations will ensure our community can gather, learn, and grow in an environment that they are proud to call their second home.

Year 3 Bike Ed - Update

Yesterday the school’s set of bikes arrived which will support the Year 3 Bike Education program, which is beginning on Friday October 27th.

Specific program information will be shared with Year 3 families via Compass.

A reminder, whilst students don’t have to have their own bike for Bike Ed, students are invited and encouraged to bring their own bike to school for each of the seven Fridays that the program will run.  If families are interested in purchasing a new bike, a 20 or 24 inch geared kids bike would be my recommendation.

Pedestrian Safety

With the arrival of a new term and the associated chaos of drop-off and pick-up, please remember to practise and model good road safety.  We have had a number of reports about parents and children crossing Campaspe Drive within sight of but not on the school crossing.  Please ensure the safety of our entire school community by using the supervised crossings and embedding the road safety message into all student behaviour.
