From the Principal

Dear Families,

Welcome back to term four. I hope you were able to enjoy some time with your family and if you are a Collingwood supporter, celebrate a magnificent year in football (as hard as it is for an Essendon supporter to say!).

As we begin to settle back in to classes let’s remember to keep in touch with all the news at school through the weekly newsletter and PAM. If you require assistance accessing either of these, please call in to school and we can help you out.

Trivia Night

Trivia Nights are always a great social occasion - we'd love to see you there! Understandably there has been a lot going on over the holiday period and booking a place or table for the evening may have slipped your mind. At the moment, there have been limited ticket sales and we'd really love to see the event go ahead. If you can make it, please book your tickets promptly (ideally by tomorrow!). Please see the Trivia Night page for further details.

Christmas Carols Night

I've heard all about how wonderful the Christmas Carols Night is at Drummo! At the moment we are currently seeking support from interested parents to coordinate the evening. If this is of interest to you, please reach out to either myself or the Drummo Social Circle.

Drummo Social Circle Meeting

Next Monday the Drummo Social Circle will be meeting in the Healthy Living area at 7pm. This is a fantastic opportunity to meet, discuss and share ideas for schoolwide events. You are always most welcome to join in - the more the merrier!

World Teachers' Day

Australia celebrates the teaching profession on World Teachers’ Day tomorrow.

Teachers (with support from parents and carers) have ensured education continues across the country this year, despite major challenges. It’s reinforced the significant role teachers play in the lives of children and students, their families, and communities. We will be thanking our teachers on this day if you would like to also say thanks, I'm sure they would appreciate it!

Building Update

It feels like a while since the last building update that saw the big move of the Gr1/2 students into their new spaces and the occupation of the administration area refurbishment.

There's a fair bit going on in the next stage of the building works. The below images show what's going on behind the scenes at this point in time. Presently we have been advised of a mid-December anticipated completion date for the project.

I am so grateful for your support and understanding throughout the project. It has been a difficult time for all of us to navigate with limited spaces all round. We're so nearly there!

Hats

It’s that time of year that hats are compulsory. No excuses! Those without a SunSmart hat will be directed to the undercover area near the deck.

Thanks for a terrific start to term 4. It is a long one (11 weeks!) and we want to continue the strong learning and academic focus but also strengthen and develop the social aspect of the students.

Have a great week ahead!

Kind regards,

Ben Shields
