During the next fortnight, students will be undertaking learning in the following areas:
Subject | Learning Focus |

Reading | Week 1 & 2 - Students will learn the diphthongs oi/oy as in oil/toy and ow/ou as in cow/house by reading and writing words containing these phonemes. Students will also be developing their reading comprehension skills by making connections with texts and by making inferences about the text. |
Writing | Week 1 & 2 - In week 1, children reviewed the text types explored this year, including, procedure, information report, persuasive and narrative. Teachers will use these writing pieces to set writing goals for students. In week 2 children will revise persuasive writing, and looking at the structure of a persuasive piece and focus on forming effective arguments. |
Maths | Week 1 & 2 - Students will be revising half hour and quarter hour time, using hands on materials to demonstrate their understanding of time. Students will also be investigating the features of 3D shapes, and will identify the number of corners, edges and vertices of a variety of shapes. |
Inquiry | Due to swimming, inquiry will not be studied until week 3. |
SEL | Week 1 & 2 - Students will engage in games and activities in mixed groups across the module, to support friendship development and resilience. |

Students should come to school in normal school uniform wearing their bathers underneath. Students should also have a towel, underwear and a bag to put their wet clothes in after their swimming lesson. Students may also wish to bring swimming goggles, however this is optional. Please ensure all belonging are clearly named.
Celebration of Learning:
Congratulations to Ronan Pietzsch who competed in the Australian Ninja Warrior challenge league on the 4th and 5th of October. Ronan competed in three events across the two days and was awarded 1st place in the U/8's competition. We are very proud of his achievements.
