Principal's Report: End of Term 3, 2023

At SCHS we pride ourselves on the range of experiences we offer to students. These experiences broaden their horizons, encourage students to step outside their comfort zone, and bring some fun to their lives as well. As we come to the end of term 3 it is time to reflect on a term filled with remarkable achievements, academic endeavours, and unforgettable experiences.

Snow Camp: Adventure and Team Building

For many of our students, Snow Camp was the highlight of the term. The breathtaking landscapes, thrilling activities, and the bonds forged through shared experiences will be cherished memories for years to come. It was an opportunity to step out of comfort zones, build resilience, and create lasting friendships.

Science Week: Unleashing Curiosity and Innovation

Science Week was a blast! Our budding scientists immersed themselves in exciting experiments, workshops, and demonstrations that ignited their curiosity. I particularly enjoyed judging our staff competing against senior students in the ‘drop the base’ titration challenge. It was a week of exploration, learning, and discovery, and we are proud to see our students embrace the wonders of science with such enthusiasm.

Book Week Dress Up: A Magical Celebration

Our celebration of Book Week was a magical journey into the world of literature and imagination. The halls were transformed as Hogwarts students and characters from "The Wizard of Oz" (on a decreasing budget) roamed the halls, whilst we attempted to find Waldo amongst the crowd. It was a delightful spectacle that celebrated the power of books to unite and inspire us all.

Inaugural House Drama Performances: A Resounding Success

This term, we introduced our inaugural House Drama competition, and what a success it was! Our talented students displayed their acting prowess, creativity, and teamwork in ways that exceeded our expectations. The energy, enthusiasm, and camaraderie displayed by each house left a lasting impression on everyone in attendance. We look forward to making this an annual tradition, allowing our students to continue to shine on stage.

Exam Week: Demonstrating Learning Excellence

Our students never cease to amaze us with their dedication and hard work. The recent exam week provided an opportunity for our young scholars to showcase their learning and growth. It was inspiring to see the commitment they put into their studies, and we are confident that these experiences will serve as valuable stepping stones for their future successes.

Greece and Italy Tour: A Return to International Travel

One of the most exciting developments this term was the return of our Greece and Italy Tour. After a long hiatus from international travel, our students have the opportunity to explore the rich history, culture, and beauty of these two incredible countries. The

experiences gained from this tour will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact, fostering a deeper appreciation for the world's diversity and the value of global connections.

As we approach the term break, I want to encourage all students to take this time to relax, recharge, and spend quality moments with family and friends. The challenges and successes of Term 3 have undoubtedly shaped us, and now it's time to reflect, rejuvenate, and come back refreshed and ready for the adventures and opportunities that Term 4 will bring.

Thank you for your continued support in making SCHS a place of growth, learning, and unforgettable experiences. We look forward to welcoming our students back for another fantastic term ahead.

Wishing you all a safe and enjoyable break.
