Welcome back to Term 4 - as we embark on a new term I ask us all to be conscious of the opportunities that we have this term to build on our academic achievements and work towards our semester two goals.
Earlier in semester two our girls were asked to set specific goals for the semester. As we enter term 4 it is an ideal time for our girls to prioritise their goals and to stay motivated to achieve them. The following points will assist in ensuring that the semester goals are realised:
You may be aware that the topic of mobile phones in schools has been a topic of conversation in recent months. It is important to note that our College has policies in place to restrict the use of mobile phone usage on school premises in order to minimise distractions and to maintain a focused learning environment.
I would like to remind the girls that there is to be no use of mobile devices from the time a student enters the College gates until the final bell at 3:05 p.m. Where a student needs to make contact with home/parent during the course of the school day, students should attend the front office to use the College phone. Please be reminded that messaging or texting on a mobile device is inappropriate and will result in an afternoon detention. Similarly, I would like to remind the girls that the unauthorised uploading of images, videos or recordings of Brigidine students or College facilities to the Internet will result in serious consequences.
As communicated previously, SCS has recently updated the Student Use of Digital Devices and Online Services Policy which establishes guidelines on device usage throughout the school day. Our College processes reflect this SCS policy.
Regular school attendance is crucial to academic success, personal development and future prospects. Consistent attendance allows our girls to stay on track with their learning. Regular school attendance also provides opportunities for social interactions. Attendance also teaches our girls about the importance of punctuality and responsibility which are valuable throughout their lives.
A reminder that parents/guardians may approach the school to seek permission for extended leave for their daughter to travel during the school term. Extended leave is considered to be 5 or more days during the school term for the purpose of a family holiday, family business, bereavement or other reasons.
Parents/guardians must complete and submit the Application for Extended Leave (A1) prior to commencing leave or apply for extended leave in writing to the principal directly.

Mental Health Month is celebrated each year in the month of October in NSW. This month encourages all of us to think about our mental health and well-being, regardless of whether we may have a lived experience of mental illness or not. It also gives us the opportunity to understand the importance of good mental health in our everyday lives and encourages help-seeking behaviours when needed.
