CURRICULUM FOCUS

This week in Writing the students will continue working on their persuasive writing. 

VOCABULARY

Argument: An attempt to persuade someone or something. Reasons are given to support.

Persuasive writing: a type of writing that tries to persuade the reader to agree with an opinion.

Ban the boring: Writers don’t need to add in every detail when they write. Some things are just not needed. Writers should only include the interesting parts.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Ask your child to take one of the following topics and write a short argument for or against it. Once they have written their argument they should revise their work and ban the boring.

Dogs are better than cats

Basketball is better than AFL

Minecraft is better than Roblox

Unicorns are better than dragons
