Year 10 News

Last week, Year 10 students participated in a range of activities designed to develop their social, emotional and wellbeing health. Some students completed work experience during the week, where they experienced hands-on activities in their chosen fields.

Students remaining at school participated in the Living History incursion on Monday, where they got to learn about WWI and look at artefacts from our ANZAC’s. On Thursday and Friday, students learned about respectful and consensual relationships through the LoveBites program, facilitated by Upper Hunter Community Services. Their feedback, from both events, was overwhelmingly positive and it was lovely to see our students engage in these opportunities in a healthy and positive manner.

Students also had the opportunity last week to participate in the 2024 Tell Them From Me survey, with students able to provide feedback on their individual learning, social and physical opportunities, here at SJCC. Much longer than previous years' surveys, this survey asked students about their experiences, their engagement and things they enjoyed completing here at school. Thank you for completing this survey, it is very much appreciated and always great to hear from students and their families!

On Friday, many of our Year 10 students came decked out in their finest pyjamas to celebrate Community Day. Every Year 10 Pastoral Care class ran a stall, with some selling foods and others raising funds through sporting events, face painting and a 100’s club raffle. It was such a fun day, and everybody seemed to have enjoyed themselves. Thank you to our Pastoral Care staff and SRC Leaders for organising these opportunities with their individual classes.

This week, Year 10 students will begin the Year 11 Elective process, with students listening to talks from Leaders of Learning across all faculties and considering their options for study in 2025.

In Term 3, Year 10 will have their second Wellbeing Day together, with the cohort unable to participate in their wellbeing day this term due to the LoveBites program. This day is designed to strengthen students' relationships with one another and will continue to build upon their capacity to work together.

Just a reminder that Illness/Misadventure Forms should be completed at least three days prior to an assessment task being due if you will be absent on the date of submission. These forms are also required if students are absent the day before an assessment task is due. This is a compulsory NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) requirement for all Year 10, 11 and 12 students. For further information please contact the school via phone or email.
