Principal's Message

Dear Families, Students and Community Members,

As we come to the end of our first full semester, it is hard to believe that we are halfway through our first year. I want to extend my thanks to all our students for all they have contributed to our school this semester. The first half of the year has been filled with opportunities for learning and engagement in the classroom, participation in a range of sports teams and many other extra-curricular opportunities here at Brinbeal Secondary College.

As we finish the term and reflect on the semester’s work, it is important to stop and think about how much our students and staff have achieved in such a short period of time and the significant progress they have made across many areas.

Semester reports will be available to download at the end of the term. Please keep an eye out for a COMPASS notification. We encourage families to spend some time with their child reviewing and reflecting on the semester report. It is important to celebrate successes and to look for areas of improvement.

I wish to acknowledge and thank all our staff who have worked tirelessly during the first semester of our brand-new school to ensure our students are given every opportunity to succeed and have opportunities for a holistic education both in the classroom and outside the classroom. Learning doesn’t just occur with the confines of four walls, learning occurs throughout the whole day and in a range of settings which allow students to develop and grow.

Finally, a quick reminder about the importance of attendance:

  • Going to school every day is the single most important part of your teenager’s education. Students learn new things at school every day – missing school puts them behind.
  • Missing school can have a big impact on students academically and socially. It can affect their test results, and, just as importantly, it can affect their relationships with other students, and lead to social isolation.
  • There is no safe number of days for missing school – each day a student misses puts them behind and can affect their educational outcomes.
  • Each missed day is associated with falling behind in subject topics and assessment tasks.

I wish all our community a relaxing break from school for the next two weeks and look forward to seeing all our students back for Term 3 on Monday 15th July.

Kind Regards,

Mr. Simon Haber

College Principal
