National Simultaneous Story Time in V7
In week 4, we took part in the National Simultaneous Story Time and read the book Bowerbird Blues, by Aura Parker. National Simultaneous Story Time is a day where students from all over Australia and New Zealand get together to read the same book.... at exactly the same time!
After reading the book, we worked together to research facts about Bowerbirds and found out that they are very interesting birds. Check out some of the facts that we discovered!
They make bowers on the ground- Harper
Male birds invite the female birds to their bower- Liam F
Bower birds make homes- Jumma
Bower birds collect blue objects and sometimes other colours but they prefer blue objects- Noah
They make a house out of sticks and let the female birds come in- Pravin
Bower birds can live for 30 years- Kruize
Bower birds can make a house with a lot of decorations inside- Anita
Bower birds live in the forest and in Australia- Isabella & Jumma
Bower birds fly around and find a lot of things- Marnaath
We also made a whole-class collage to present our learning. We painted a sky, collected sticks and lots of blue 'things' to make our bower and then we wrote our facts on some flying Bowerbirds.
Many other classes participated in National Simultaneous Storytime and enjoyed participating in some related learning after listening to the story. It was a great book to share.
