STUDENT LEADERSHIP 2024

“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” – John Quincy Adams

Our three recess breaks structure

How lucky we are at Upwey South Primary School to have our school yard in such an amazing environmental space. Our students are always wanting to get outside and play, utilising every little bit of our yard. Here are a few snaps of our students playing on the Morris road play ground.

During each recess break, we also have our school library open for students to visit. There are loads of activities on offer, from chess games, to reading, to craft, to board games, and even some impromptu acting sessions. Students have been engrossed in colouring in, drawing and tracing pictures using sunlight and the library windows. Hangman and Scattergories have kept the whiteboards busy,  with book folding also a favourite. Chess has  become a recess highlight, with matches between all age groups.

Shinning  Diamonds new member

Our Upwey South Aerobics team, The Shinning Diamonds, have got a new member. He is very  keen to display his skills and to support the team with their high leg kicks and the push ups. Well done Mr Kitch, your push ups were spot on, precision perfect.

End of term message from our Mulga Term Two House Leaders-  Jake and Poppy

Each term students can earn house points by engaging with our school values. Points can be awarded by teachers, and nominated by peers, for both in-class and out-of-class actions. Some people earn points for displaying kindness or respect, and others earn points for efforts with their learning. Whatever it is, we aim to recognise how amazing all of our students are.

"We are really happy that Mulga won the Term Two trophy. Thank you to all of the classes for your efforts with earning points. I love being a house captain because I like to help people do their best with sport and being kind. Thanks for earning points for our house!"- Poppy

"Well done to everyone in Mulga, and to everyone from the other houses for trying your best at sporting events. We are so proud to be captains of a school in which so many of us always try our best to do the right thing. I think USPS is an amazing place because the teachers work hard to make our school enjoyable. I love our school because it is so friendly, and there are so many people to easily make friends with."- Jake

Signing off from the AP...

Well done to all Upwey South students. You have worked hard this term and shown that we can be strong, positive, resilient humans. You have demonstrated skills in being responsible for your school belongings and for your own learning and through all the busy challenging times at school you have stood tall and displayed respect to our community.

Over the past few nights, parents have been visiting our school to hold Parent Teacher Interviews with our classroom teachers. Setting goals for Semester Two has been the key focus for these meetings. Onwards and upwards for continued learning at Upwey South Primary.

Enjoy a much deserved holiday break with family and friends.

We will see you back at school on Monday 15th July.
