Adventure with the naughty tricks of Pig the Pug, the splendid missions of Princess Black and the twists and turns of 330 Minutes of Mystery, and of course the latest stationery!
This week the Scholastic Book Fair opened at the library!
Each class has had a chance to adventure around the wonderland of books, choosing what items to add to their wish list. We encourage children and parents/carers to discuss what the children have put on their wish list at home and consider purchasing them from the fair.
It is a great chance to read more and learn more, in a fun way. It is also a great way to get to know other students. On Monday, the Year 6 students took their Pre-Prep buddies to the fair, helping them choose books for their wish lists, and growing a greater relationship together and belonging as a community.
We are excited that our Book Fair has strengthened the relationships of our Primary School and helped us belong while exploring various books, texts and stationery! For the classes who accompanied their younger buddy class to the fair, it was a great chance for them to show kindness and connect with their buddies. Opportunities like the Scholastic Book Fair help create a larger connection with each other and a greater school community. This means students feel they belong and when you belong, you shine!
There are lots of ways to get involved and belong in literature at Clayfield College. As well as the Scholastic Book Fair, the 2024 Premier's Reading Challange started last week encouraging students to read and engage more in literacy. We can make the Reading Challange an activity where students can belong by encouraging each other, recommending and trading books with friends. Selected students from Upper Primary school grades are also participating in Reader's Cup - where students explore a variety of texts, share their knowledge, work together, and compete against other schools to shine in their love of books.
There is also a Reading Buddies Club in the library every Wednesday for students in Prep to Year 2, and a chance to spend time and belong with other students at the library.
We’re really excited to be bringing our second episode of the Green Hat Chat!
Did you know that Sunday 5 May was World Laughter Day? To celebrate, our second episode of the Green Hat Chat is all about laughing together!
Laughing with friends helps us feel connected to the people around us, and it’s even great for our body. It helps us to feel calm and happy, improve our mood, and helps us to feel like we belong. Laughter really is the best medicine.
To give us a giggle and help us connect, we asked our community to share their favourite jokes. We hope to make you laugh! Enjoy!
So remember, when you belong, you shine!
