From the Classroom
Learning Fun in Year 1 and 2
Year 1
Our Year 1 students have been busy and excited to learn how to do addition using counters and MAB blocks this term. They’ve also made nature-inspired ten frames to help visualise their Maths skills.
In literacy, the students have been practising handwriting and learning various diagraphs/ trigraphs, such as ‘wh’, each week. It’s been a fun journey as they explore different sounds and words.
Year 1 students have been following a daily calendar routine, which helps them understand days, dates, and months.
Year 1/2 Mini-Boss- Solve it! Incursion
We had a fantastic incursion during which our students played detective. They thoroughly enjoyed the experience, learned about teamwork, and enhanced their problem-solving skills. They solved the crime of who stole the ice cream!
Year 2
Mindfulness glitter jars for The Resilience Project
We loved the opportunity to create beautiful and glittery mindfulness jars as part of our Resilience Project lesson on mindfulness. I am sure you will agree that they look amazing!
Fact Family Craft
We turned it into a craft activity to make our exploration of Fact Families and the relationship between addition and subtraction more fun. Our Fact Family Kites also allowed us to differentiate by individually choosing numbers, which was a good challenge.
Fact Family Street
We also created a fabulous Fact Family street of amazing houses showing our individually chosen Fact Families.
