The Drama classroom at SCC gives students a safe place to build many important, transferable skills such as creativity, collaboration, communication, empathy, cultural understanding, leadership skills and critical thinking.
While there are many opportunities at SCC for students to perform and be “in the spotlight” such as Production and Arts Nights, there are also opportunities for them to develop socially and emotionally and build self-confidence, communication skills and positive connections with others.
This term in Drama we are looking at physical theatre in its various forms. Year 7 students are participating in a unit on the art of traditional Clowning and Comedy, Year 8 students are discovering the joys of Melodrama, Year 9 students are delving into the world of classical Italian comedy – Commedia del Arte, and Year 10 students are exploring Ancient Greek Theatre and making connections between this genre and contemporary theatre.

Last week Year 9 Quest students went to the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens. Combining science and art, students learnt more about plant identification while also designing some amazing artwork.
