NSW Premier's Reading Challenge 2024

Remember to keep reading and logging your books for the Premier’s Reading Challenge!

Please refer to the table below to see how many books you are required to read to complete the challenge.

K-2 students may have their books read to them.

3-6 students must read their books independently.

A special reminder that many of the Premier’s Reading Challenge Books are available on SORA. If you log into SORA and look in the collections, you will see that there are collections of books devoted to each section of the challenge. Happy Reading!

Friday, August 23rd 2024, is the PRC closing date for student entries.

Damaged Library Books

It is with dismay that I have to remind families that there is a need for borrowed library books to be stored in a safe place, away from little hands, pets, food and water. Quite a number of library books are being returned to school damaged - many with the covers torn, sadly some of these are new books! I do understand that over time library books will become worn, but, if borrowed library books are stored safely their longevity will be ensured. An added bonus of borrowed library books being stored safely in the same spot all the time is that library books will not get lost! I appreciate your support with this issue!

Some Quick Reminders

  • Library Borrowing/Library Bags - borrowing for all students continues to occur on Thursdays and Fridays. Don’t forget that Library bags are a must to ensure the safe transportation of books to and from school.
  • Overdue Books – there has been a steady stream of overdue library books being returned to school, thank you to those families who have located them and sent them in to school, however, there are still many overdue books outstanding. Please continue to keep looking for any overdue library books you know you have at home!
  • Book Club - the Book Club catalogue for Term 2 will be distributed today, order forms are due on 21st June 2024.
  • Lunch Time in the Library - the library will be open daily for students to enjoy during the second break. So if you would like to find a quiet corner to read a book, solve a jigsaw, draw or colour a picture or play a board game come on in, you will be most welcome! Hope to see you there!
