As always Charlton College has been very busy and will continue to be busy with excursions, exams, parent teacher interviews, reporting and the normal day to day of teaching. I would like to personally thank the SLC and school leaders for all the work they have done this term. The energy and ideas they have brought to their roles have been amazing.
We have had two new staff members join the team over the past couple of weeks, I would like to welcome Ella Darby and Rebecca Heenan to our team at the College.
Student Attitude to School Survey
We value student voice as a means to improving student engagement, wellbeing, and quality instruction, and are conducting a survey to find out what your child thinks of our school. The Attitudes to School Survey is an annual student survey offered by the Department of Education and Training to assist schools in gaining an understanding of students' perceptions and experience of school. Our school will use the survey results to plan programs and activities to improve your child's schooling experience.
This year the Attitudes to School survey will be conducted at our school over the period Monday 27 May to Friday 1st June. Students in years 4 to 12 will undertake the survey. The survey only takes around 20 minutes to complete and occurs during your child's class time. All survey data that is made available in reports are for groups of students only so that no individual student can be identified. Please refer to the link below, see Compass or contact Kim Fitzpatrick at the College for further details.
Whole School Assembly
We held our mid-term assembly Monday, where we heard from the Sports Captains, Year 10 Work Experience group and SLC about all that has been and is planned to happen. A special presentation was made from the Year 7 to 9 group to Trevor McGurk, representing the Charlton Golf Club, for their contribution to our sporting program.
Attendance
Attendance plays a big part in the educational success of students, so high attendance is important. It Since the beginning of term 41 students have attended every lesson. Their names were all placed in the tin and Sarah was our lucky attendee for the first half of term.
Since the beginning of the term students have been acknowledged for 504 positive behaviours. 133 for the value of resilience, 114 for the value of respect and 257 for the value of responsibility.
The responses staff are gaining from students is really positive, and our VCE students have been extremely pleased to be acknowledged.
At Assembly on Monday, we undertook our mid-term draw. Our lucky winners were Renee and Liam.
We are still on the lookout to recruit some new student members to the SWPBS Team. We meet twice a term on average for about 10 to 15 minutes at lunchtime while we eat our lunch to view the data and to talk about how we can improve School Wide Positive Behaviour in the school. If you think you may like to be involved, please come and speak to Mrs Fitzpatrick.
