Prayer

Remembrance Day

God of peace,

Through your Son Jesus you show us how to be people of kindness and people of forgiveness. Help us to be more understanding towards each other so that we may build right relationships and live with compassion and understanding. May we be true peacemakers who want to make a difference in our world. We give thanks and pray for all who have served in the Australian Defence Force. May they find peace and healing.

We ask this in Jesus' name.

Amen

Monday 11th of November is Remembrance Day, which marks the end of World War 1 over a hundred years ago. Although it was a long time ago, it is an opportunity to remember and honour the service and sacrifice of Australia’s servicemen and women in World War 1 and in all other wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.

We remember them, as they offered their bodies, minds, hearts and spirits in fighting for a better world. We pray that we value the freedoms that we enjoy today and commit ourselves to creating peace in our world by recognising that peace begins in our own families, classrooms, schools and communities, and it begins with us. Each one of us can make a peaceful world.
