Principal's Page

Dear Families,

I hope all families enjoyed the long weekend and beautiful sunshine. Now that Cup Day is behind us, the end of year and Christmas will be quickly upon us! Please continue to check the calendar dates on the next page.

Welcome

Welcome to Charlotte (Year 3) and Sebastian (Year 2) who have started at St Joseph's this morning. We hope it is a positive educational experience for you and your family.

School Bus

It is important that parents are at the bus stop to supervise their children off the bus (and on in the morning). This ensures that Sandra can quickly see who has been collected and the bus can hopefully run on schedule.

2025 Preps

This morning next year's Prep students attended their second transition session. There were lots of very excited children looking forward to beginning their schooling journey.

St Joseph's Award

Congratulations to Henry and Tahlia for being acknowledged for consistently being respectful, being safe and being effective learners and receiving the St Joseph's Award at last week's assembly.

Italian Day

Italian day will take place on Tuesday 12th November. It is a wonderful day to get dressed up and celebrate the Italian language and culture. Signora Scandizzo has listed the activities students will participate in and some costume ideas later in the newsletter.

Visual Arts Exhibition

Students have completed some amazing Art Works this year and the exhibition will be a wonderful community event on Thursday 14 November. 5:00pm - 6:30pm. Some local artists and selected students have decorated skate decks which will be auctioned on the evening. All money raised from the auctions will be donated to the Moss Foundation who supplies clean water systems in Eswatini Africa.

Sausages, cans of drink and plants will also be available to purchase so please bring your spare change along.

Tidy Town Awards

Jane and I attended the Awards Dinner last Monday evening as St Joseph's was a finalist in the Behaviour Change and Education category. Although we did not take out the major prize we were congratulated on the work the Moonah Restoration Project had achieved. Josie Jones won the Tidy Town litter Award for her report on mechanical beach raking and its negative impact on micro-plastics. This year's Tidy Town winner was Rye!

Canteen

As you are aware, several local businesses have been approached regarding providing a lunch order service for our families. Some parents have offered to trial a service on Friday 22 November and Friday 6th December. An Operoo will be sent out prior with food items and ordering details.

Parishioner Survey

The Parish Pastoral Council has devised a survey to assist them in their role of acknowledging, guiding and empowering the parish community. They are seeking to know who makes up the parish. All families will be given a card to complete if they would like to.

Point Nepean Men's Shed

We are so fortunate to have keen, local volunteers to assist us here at school. Thank you to Terry, John, Wayne and Robin for assisting the Year 5/6 students with the billy carts last Thursday morning. Thank you also to David, Gilly and Terry for assisting the Year 3/4 students with constructing bird boxes. Thank you Julian for assisting with the cutting of wood.

Oak's Day

We hope all the ladies of our school community have a wonderful day tomorrow at the Oak's day event.

Council Recycle Bin

The Council Recycle Bin will be parked out the front of the school until 24th November. It accepts clothing, shoes, bags and small electrical items.

2025 School Fees

A letter will be sent home tomorrow regarding an increase in School Fees for 2025. Please check your child's communication folder or school bag.

Have a wonderful week and please let me know if I can assist you in any way.
