Ms Sharon Rainford

Dear Parents, Carers, Students, Staff and Friends of St Norbert College

Presentation Night 2024

We came together as a community at the Perth Concert Hall on Thursday 24 October, to celebrate St Norbert College at the annual Presentation Night. The wonderful Year 7 Massed Choir singing ‘All you need is love’ set the tone for a magnificent showcase of academic achievements, leadership, service and talents.

An evening of this magnitude requires countless hours of preparation and I particularly thank Mr Paul Murphy who co-ordinated the night, Mrs Karen Cassidy and Mr Craig Mecham for managing the evening, along with Mr Luke Di Labio and Mrs Kathryn Crocker for the entertainment. Thank you to Mrs Jenny Palermo for the beautiful prayer and final blessing hymn. The Presentation Night Committee, along with Mrs Colette Miranda for the logistics, Mrs Angela Hughes for the ticketing, Mr Jan Malski for the photography and visual presentations and to all other staff who fulfilled duties that contributed to the evening- THANK YOU.

Most importantly, I thank the wonderful students involved in the evening, especially our MCs-Kaylani Popelier and Jacob Andrews. Congratulations also to all award winners.

Congratulations to Mrs Karen Gonsalves, our extraordinary Head of Careers and Transitions who was the worthy recipient of the Br Patrick Doolan Award.

Graduation and Farewell to the Class of 2024

Over the last two weeks, we celebrated and farewelled the students from the Class of 2024. The students were first farewelled in their Houses, then by the whole College in an assembly, but the highlight of events was the celebration of mass followed by the graduation ceremony and supper with families. I thank Fr Peter for the inspirational homily that once again challenged our graduates to be their best and to take advantage of the opportunities that come their way. I am confident that they will be outstanding ambassadors for our College and they will always be welcomed back.

I wish all our graduates the best for their futures and good luck to our students sitting ATAR exams which commence on Monday 28 October. I look forward to hearing about your wonderful achievements.

I would like to acknowledge the contributions of so many to the warmth, spirit and generosity that we enjoyed when celebrating our Class of 2024. The dedication, hard work and service of our Pastoral Care Team, in particular Ms Karen MaGee and Mr Roger D’Almeida, Ms Cecilia Loh, Mrs Corrina Markich and our Graduation Committee of students and staff. Thank you to Mrs Karen Gonsalves, Mrs Sam Eloff, Mrs Fiona Allard, Mrs Monica Stirling, Mr Andrew Frick, Mr Bronson Gherardi, Mrs Mel Robinson, Mrs Lyndsey Cardenia, Mrs Megan Silva and the Café staff, for the co-ordination of the supper. We are very grateful to Fr Peter, Mrs Jenny Palermo and Ms Margaret Kyd who always orchestrate such lovely Eucharistic celebrations.

The end of the school year is looming. I encourage students to prepare for the impending assessments ahead. Set goals, plan and use your time wisely to ensure that your reports reflect your best efforts.

On this World Teachers’ Day, I wish to extend my deepest gratitude for all the incredible work done, both inside and outside the classroom. The dedication, passion, and tireless efforts of teachers often go unnoticed.

Thank you for the countless hours educating and caring for our students. May you continue to inspire and educate with the same enthusiasm and dedication.

Thank you to the Parent Committee for the delicious morning tea we shared today.

I invite students and parents to send messages of thanks to our staff to wish them Happy World Teachers’ Day!

God bless
