New Canteen Manager – Sammi

Mrs Sammi Jensen is the new Canteen Manager at Boorowa Central School. She replaces Edwina Woodhead who did a fabulous job for 2 terms.

Sammi joins our school with years of experience in hospitality and plenty of enthusiasm. She is passionate about providing healthy food options for the children of Boorowa Central School and potentially to the community at a later date.

She will always be in need of assistance by parents and/or community volunteers so if interested, jump onto Facebook and send a message to ‘Boorowa Central School Snack Central’ or contact her directly.

The Canteen will operate 3 days a week this term, Wednesday – Friday, with the plan to open 5 days a week in 2025.

Welcome to our School Sammi.

P and C Wish List

Our annual Touch Football / Netball Carnival is a major fundraiser for our school’s P and C. Funds raised from the carnival are then used to purchase specialist teaching and learning resources that would normally fall outside of faculty budgets. These resources are used in our classrooms to support and enhance teaching and learning for students across the school.

Thank you to the tireless efforts of the Boorowa Central P and C for their annual fundraising and their ongoing support of our students and the school.

The funds raised from the 2023 carnival were spent on the following items:

Indigenous Classroom mat fro Kindergarten

Foldable Headphone and lined student whiteboards for Infants

Reading Box – RED and foldable soccer goals for Primary

Outdoor Table Tennis Table, weather station, Vaccuum pump and Bell jar, 2 mini-tennis nets and some coloured sashes for the AMPS faculty (Agriculture, Math, PDHPE and Science)

2 world globes and class sets of ‘Boy Swallows Universe, ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nightmare’, ‘Hatchet’, ‘The Rabbits’ and ‘Fox’ for the English / HSIE faculty.

15 Raspberry Pi 5’s (used for coding), an overlocker and multiple sets of ‘boom whackers’ were purchased by the TAS / CAPA Faculty.

Touch Football / Netball Carnival 2024

It is set to be another typically massive carnival this year with over 450 teams and an estimated 6000 people converging on the Boorowa showground to play primary aged non-competitive Touch Football and Netball. School staff and P and C members had worked toward this day for many weeks and months to ensure all aspects run smoothly on the day.

A big thank you to all of the school staff, P and C members and volunteers who gave their time and effort to ensure the day will be a success. Also, thank you to the Hilltops council for preparing the showground facilities and assisting us source traffic management for the day.

Year 10 Melbourne Excursion

The first annual Melbourne excursion will be in Week 5 this term. Year 10, plus students in Year 9 and 11, will be catching the train to Melbourne and spending the week exploring a variety of activities designed to educate and inspire our students. It is intended that this excursion will run each year.

A special thank you to Year Advisor Ms Moorby and other staff who volunteered their time to run raffles and cook barbecues so that money raised could subsidise the cost for the students. Their efforts brought the individual cost for students from $1000 to under $500.

Thank you to Chris McIntosh at the Courthouse Hotel for providing the opportunity for the school to run 3 Friday evening meat raffles and to Gary Apps for allowing the school to run the barbecue at 2 horse sales.
