Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to Term Four! We hope you had a fantastic break and are ready for an exciting, action-packed term ahead. From fun-filled activities to new learning adventures, this term is set to be an amazing finale to the school year. As always, we appreciate your ongoing support and look forward to working together to ensure our students thrive both in and out of the classroom. Let’s make this term a memorable one for all our learners!
Camino de Santiago - The Walk of St James
Gabee has walked for 10 days along the Camino de Santiago, experiencing beautiful countryside filled with tranquil and reflective moments. After reaching Fisterra, often considered the symbolic end of the Camino, Gabee has not only completed the physical journey but also reached a point of personal graduation, concluding a profound chapter in life. Here are some photos:
I look forward to hearing all about your
adventures in person.
Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools School Improvement Surveys (MACSSIS)
A very big thank you to the 47 families that completed the survey this year. An increase of 24% from last year. Let’s see whether next year we can improve that even further. MACSSIS data benefits everyone within our school and provides valuable insights on areas that we can focus on. We thank you for taking the opportunity to have a voice and contribute to shaping the ongoing improvement of the school.
As announced via Compass, 61.5% of parents and carers in Prep M completed the survey and therefore the students will be enjoying a movie and popcorn afternoon.
Elle Tomazos won the $100 Gold Movie Voucher and I promise it was drawn under strict and fair conditions!
2025 PREP INFORMATION EVENING
Our Prep Information Evening is going to be held next Thursday, 24th October at 7:30 pm in the school library. This event is an important opportunity to gather valuable insights and guidance as your child prepares for their first year of school.
During the evening, our school leadership team will present key information about what to expect in the Prep year, including curriculum details, daily routines, and how we support each child’s transition into formal schooling. You will also have the chance to meet our Prep teacher, who will address you personally and share insights on how to best prepare your child for this exciting new chapter.
This is a great opportunity for you to ask any questions, gain a deeper understanding of the prep program, and connect with other parents who are on the same journey.
Summer Uniform Reminder
With Term Four now underway, it’s important for all students to be in their full summer uniform. The summer uniform not only helps our students feel comfortable in the warmer weather but also promotes a sense of pride and belonging within our school community.
Please ensure that your child is wearing the correct uniform each day, including appropriate footwear. For girls, this means wearing the summer dress and for boys, the school shorts and polo shirt. Runners are ONLY to be worn with PE uniforms and on their Sport day. Hats must be worn whenever students are outside, in line with our sun smart policy. If you need any assistance with uniform or have questions, please feel free to reach out to the school office.
SunSmart: Wearing of Hats
St Kevin’s is a SunSmart school and our policy reflects the recommendations of the SunSmart organisation. The Bureau of Meteorology provides information about the times of day UV levels are forecast to reach 3 or higher, meaning that sun protection is recommended for all skin types.
All students need to wear their school hat that protects the face, neck and ears. If students do not have their hat on, they will be asked to sit in a designated shaded area during recess and lunch time - NO HAT- NO PLAY.
Year Three and Four Eucharist
Last week, Pia Pagotto hosted a Eucharist parent/child workshop focused on the five key elements of the Eucharist: gather, listen, receive, give thanks, and go forth.
During the workshop, she engaged families in discussions about the significance of each element, emphasising how they contribute to a deeper understanding of the Eucharist and its role in their spiritual lives. The following day, students were engaged in further activities as they embarked in a student workshop where they explored and unpacked scripture passages and the meaning of Eucharist.
This Saturday, the 19th of October, our students will be celebrating a significant milestone in their faith journey as they receive the Sacrament of the First Eucharist. This special occasion marks the first time they will receive the Body and Blood of Christ, a moment of deep spiritual importance in their lives as members of the church.
As a community, let us keep them in our prayers as they prepare their hearts for this sacred sacrament. Their First Eucharist is not only a personal milestone but also a time for all of us to reflect on the blessings of communion and unity within our school community.
GRADE 5/6 PHILLIP ISLAND CAMP
The Grade 5/6 camp to Phillip Island will take place from Wednesday, October 30th, to Friday, November 1st. During the camp, students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of exciting activities, including the Twin Flying Fox, Team Rescue, Giant Swing, Archery, and Canoeing. In addition to these fun adventures, they will visit Amaze n Things, a unique attraction full of puzzles and illusions. Students will also experience the famous Penguin Parade, where they can observe penguins returning to shore at sunset, and take a scenic long walk to Smith Beach to enjoy the beautiful coastal views. This camp promises to be full of adventure and unforgettable memories!

PERFORMING ARTS UPDATE: STOMP DANCE LESSONS
Our STOMP program has officially begun - the music was pumping, the kids were stomping and even the teachers were grooving and moving! It was on for young and old. But don’t listen to what I have to say, here are some pictures and some words from the students.
From my perspective, I would say most of the class enjoyed it. It got everybody moving around and pretty much the entire class was having fun! But I enjoyed it a lot! I don't know if Stomp did the choreography before-hand or right on the spot, but everything went well and smoothly - Arianna N 5/6GS
I liked the rhythm and the beat; it was fun and easier when the instructors told us the dance moves to it; it was even more fun when the music played because there was sound and it didn't feel so empty. The dance moves were interesting - John-Paul 3/4CC
I enjoyed how the people taught us, it was basic but it was lots of fun when you learned the dance and you could do it without the instructors - Lwa 3/4F
Italian for Term Four, Week 1 and 2
Ciao, I hope you all had an amazing break! In Week 1 and Week 2 of term 4 the students are focusing on learning vocabulary from units 7A & 7B.
We practised revising over sentences from last term such as:
- Cosa ti piace fare a scuola? (What do you like doing at school?)
- Mi piace.... (I like) and Non mi piace (I do not like)
We are now expanding our sentences by introducing new nouns eg.
- Con mio papà (with my dad)
- Con mia mamma (with my mum)
- Con la mia famiglia (with my family)
We are now learning new phrases to include in our sentences eg.
- Cosa fai a casa? (what do you do at home?)
- Faccio i compiti (I do homework)
- Guardo la televisione (I watch TV)
- Mangio la pasta (I eat pasta)
- Gioco ai videogiochi (I play videogames)
- Parlo italiano (I speak Italian)
Our goal for this week is to create full sentences by applying these new phrases.
Grazie, Chiara

COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Thank you to Daniel Santoro for volunteering to take the art easels back to Our Lady of Mercy College in Heidelberg. Daniel, you were a champion coming with your truck and loading everything in one go. Thank you also to Shannon for volunteering to assist. We are extremely fortunate to have parents that are so generous with their time.
We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Chris and Sophie’s grandmother (great grandmother to Elias, Joseph, John-Paul and Zoe). Losing a loved one is never easy, and our thoughts are with them and their family during this difficult time. May they find comfort in cherished memories and the support of those around them.
Congratulations Mario and Chiara Gerosolimo on your beautiful wedding! May your
journey together be filled with love, laughter, and endless happiness. As you begin this new chapter, may you create countless memories and grow stronger together with each passing day. Wishing you a lifetime of joy and adventure in your marriage!
Welcome to St. Kevin's, Leo C in Grade 1 and Flynn S in Grade 4. Leo and Flynn have commenced school at St. Kevin’s. Please welcome them to our school community!
Warmest Regards, Eva
