Principal message
Dear Students, Families, and Staff,
It is a pleasure to return to St Monica’s and witness the remarkable growth in our students since late June. I have observed significant development in their abilities to engage in meaningful conversations and demonstrate exceptional learning progress. A Foundation student particularly stood out last week when he proudly shared his improved reading skills with me and insisted on reading aloud. Such dedication is truly commendable and heartening to witness.
World Teachers' Day
The advancements in our students' learning are not coincidental but a result of the expertise and commitment of our staff and teachers. Our teachers possess deep subject knowledge, effective classroom management skills, and the ability to exhibit patience, adaptability, empathy, creativity, communication, care, and collaboration. They excel in organising classes, accurately assessing student performance, and implementing strategies to enhance and support learning.
This Friday, we celebrate World Teachers Day, themed “Hats Off to Teachers”. This occasion provides an opportunity for the nation to acknowledge and appreciate the expertise, dedication, creativity, and support provided by our teachers to our young learners. I encourage you to express your gratitude and recognise the efforts of our teachers in supporting your child at St Monica’s.
Indeed, teaching is both a choice and a vocation for our staff, who are dedicated to living and serving as Jesus did. Their commitment to supporting, nurturing, and fostering the growth of our young people is invaluable. Your continued support strengthens this partnership, enabling our students to achieve their full potential. Please take a moment this Friday to greet our teachers and share our collective appreciation for their hard work.
Class Placements and Staffing:
Regarding my recent communication about the 2025 class structures, I appreciate the feedback received. It is important to clarify that we do not accept specific teacher requests. Instead, we sought feedback related to student placement to inform our decision-making process as our staff works through this task.
We are currently conducting interviews for various leadership and teaching roles and aim to provide a comprehensive staffing update for St Monica’s in the coming weeks.
Wishing you all a wonderful week.
