Principal's message

Thank You IGA Peakhurst

Once again our local IGA store has been very supportive of the teaching and learning occurring in our school, and has kindly donated $1000 towards our student resources. Our school is very grateful for the support.

The donation will be put towards new books to support the teaching and learning of the English curriculum in 2025.

Future planning

At this time of year, schools are very busy finalising planning details for the upcoming year. In order to assist with the planning process, we need to ensure our student information is accurate. Teaching and non-teaching positions are determined by enrolment numbers each year. In order for us to staff the school appropriately for 2025, we need to know as soon as possible if your child will not be at Peakhurst Public School next year. If you intend on moving and changing schools, please let our school office know.

Additionally, if you intend on taking extended holidays during the summer holidays and will not be returning on Day 1, Term 1, 2025. You will need to complete an extended leave application by Week 10, Term 4, 2024.

Classes 2025

We are currently in the process of forming classes for 2025.

Teacher entitlement is provided to the school based on the number of students enrolled. Current anticipated enrolments for 2025 are reduced from 2024, impacting on the class structures. At this stage the school will be entitled to 15 mainstream classes.  The school's flexible funding will be accessed to create a 16th class, allowing for flexibility for new local enrolments. Our support unit remains at 4 classes supporting students with a Moderate Intellectual and/or Autism diagnosis.

Classes are composed with the input from all current classroom teachers, executive and specialist teachers considering student need and teacher expertise. Students have been asked to provide the name of four friends to be considered in class formations.

Classes will be flexible at the commencement of 2025, allowing for accommodations for new enrolments over the December/January school holiday period.

Morning Supervision of Students

Please be mindful that the external gates for school access are not opened until 9am.

We have had some students arrive in the playground or present at the school office unsupervised before 9am. The school provides supervision for students from 9:00am, prior to this staff have commitments and preparation required for the school day. To ensure the safety of all students, please contact Attunga Out of School Hours Care if you require supervision of your child prior to 9:00am.
