Year 2/3

Year 2/3 enjoyed a 'Creative Day' as a reward for reaching 150 class points in Term Three. They decorated cookies, learned to sew running stitch and tye-dyed fabric, which is now being made into cushions.

In Mathematics the class explored grams and kilograms, and estimated and weighed items that weigh less than, the same as and greater than one kilogram. Their estimates were very accurate!

Year 2/3 are enjoying their novel study of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" by Roald Dahl. The class examined Roald Dahl's technique of using similes in descriptions and how the names of the characters 'suit' the personality of each. The children created characters of their own, with names such as 'Horatio Sourgrape' and 'Hermoine Honeybee' and wrote descriptions (including similes) to describe their characters. It was great fun!
