HMHC

Hawthorn Malvern Hockey Centre (HMHC) is a joint operation with the two major tenants at the Hockey Centre in Auburn Road Hawthorn, being TEM Hockey Club and the Hawthorn Hockey Club (HHC). A third sub tenant Carey Baptist Grammar School also are a major user of the facilities.
TEMC and HHC each appoint three Directors to HMHC, which is tasked with operating the grounds and the pavilion including the kiosk. HMHC is represented on behalf of TEM by Sam Hill, Miranda Ellis and Greg Suzor with HHC representatives Ross Blair-Holt, Sam Negri and Geoff Daley. We note a big thanks to Tony Dudley and Russell Kilroe-Smith for their years of service to HMHC.
2024 Overview
2024 has experienced another full season in the new Pavilion, which provides undercover and internal match viewing that is now pretty unique to our venue. The large function space has attracted many member and club events. The completion of the H-2 carpark offers a great level of parking to both pitches and, so far, the completion of the Bills Road development has not resulted in any major issues for the facility. The bookings process is a huge success, as is the new canteen setup. School bookings are up and even the quieter term 4 has nightly matches on each pitch.
The collapsing of part of the ceiling in the function area of the pavilion is an ongoing management process and we should have an outcome soon. Replacement lighting for the blown globes and general maintenance works on the pitch lights should be underway within the next few weeks, with Russell Kilroe-Smith leading the charge.
Thanks
A special thanks to Harry Buring, our indispensable maintenance, general handyman and task tackler, and to Asha Newstead for continuing the very important supply of canteen goods.
