Letter to Family and Friends

Dear Pilgrim Families,

One of the greatest blessings in my role has been the opportunity to gather each Monday morning with a small group of dedicated families to pray for our school community. I have had the joy of being part of this group for many years, and it’s a wonderful reminder that God consistently provides committed parents to join in prayer for our school. Whenever someone has needed to step away due to work or their children moving on, someone new has felt prompted to come and continue this valuable support.

Prayer is one of the things that truly sets our school apart, and as a staff, we are deeply grateful for each person who prays for our students, staff, school and Campus.

Prayer is simply talking to God - sometimes we might feel it requires the ‘right’ words, a certain mindset, or a better understanding of scripture, but in truth, God hears us no matter what. Whether it’s our whispered thanks, stuttering words, questions, laments, or even moments of frustration, God welcomes each of our prayers.

As a staff team, we begin each day with devotions together. This year, we have been reflecting on the Psalms, which capture the full range of emotions expressed by David and other psalmists. These ‘prayers’ help us to share openly, celebrate where we see God at work and lift up our students and families to God.

Our Foundation students have also been learning about prayer over the last term. They’ve been exploring different ways to pray; praising God for who He is, thanking Him for blessings, admitting when we’ve made mistakes (confession), and praying for others’ needs.

If you are able to pray for Pilgrim School, we would be grateful for your support as we near the end of the school year. It may be something you could do together as a family.

Here are some specific ways to pray:

  • Thank God for the growth we have seen in students, staff and families this year; for answered prayers and the blessings we have experienced as a community.
  • Pray for energy, focus and resilience for students, staff and families as we work to finish the year well.
  • Pray for our Year 6 students as they prepare to transition to high school. Pray for guidance, confidence, protection, and that they would carry the values instilled in them as they enter new environments.
  • Ask for protection over our school community as we enter the final weeks of the year.
  • Pray for our teaching staff as they prepare for end-of-year reports, class placements for 2025, and complete their teaching for this year.
  • Pray for our School Board and Leadership, asking for wisdom, vision, and discernment as they plan for next year and beyond.
  • Pray for families facing hardships in health, finances, employment, or relationships.
  • Pray for a generous spirit of kindness among students and staff, that they may find ways to support and uplift each other as the year draws to a close.

Thank you for keeping our school in your prayers and for being a vital part of our school family.

Blessings,
