The Class of 2024

Last Thursday 17th and Friday 18th of October, we celebrated the end of a journey for our Year 12 students. 

Thursday saw the Year 12 students be creative with their uniforms - dresses were cut into skirts and tops for the girls and the boys showed their muscles by removing the sleeves and not to forget the signage of names on their shirts. 

 

On Friday, although a wet day, the weather didn’t dampen their celebrations. 

Students started to arrive at 8am to a farewell BBQ Breakfast cooked by the Senior and Principal Team. 

Students also dressed up in an array of costumes ranging from, Kath and Kim, Toy Story characters, Whoopy Cushion, Egg Plants, Samurai, Dinosaur and The Lorax just to name a few. 

 

The students then headed to the Gym for their student run assembly. 

Thank you to the student leadership team for putting together a wonderful final assembly and presentation for students to look back at the year. 

Following the assembly, Year 12 students then headed to the front oval where they were treated to a slip and slide and waterbombing which is a Viewbank College tradition. 

A special mention to the student leadership team, Principal team and also Ben for helping making this day so special. 

 

Students then headed home to get ready for the Valedictory Evening that was held at Melrose Reception. 

We had the pleasure of welcoming 635 students, family, friends and staff to the event. 

The night started with the 2024 School Captains Matilda Crawford and Derek Yang, wishing the class of 2024 all the best for their future.

Ms Grimes then addressed the guests in recognising the achievements and resilience of Class 2024. 

Hannah Haynes, was the Valedictory recipient. Hannah reminded us all to be kind, and to stay positive. 

The special awards then got announced.

  • Tom Gruer - Viewbank Ethos Award 
  • Ruslana Tarauniekh - Jagajaga Resilience Award and Lesley Morris Award 
  • Holly Ridewood - Ampol All Rounder Award (presented by Founding Principal Mr David Jensz) 
  • Katelyn McGregor - Art Award 
  • Matthew Doblanovic - Technology Award 
  • Mikayla Manolaros - Vocational Student of the Year Award  
  • Estella Law - David Jensz Award.

We then congratulated the class of 2024 by presenting them individually with a VCE Viewbank College certificate. 

The night ended with dancing, laughter and unforgettable memories.
