PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Another school year is ending, which means that new beginnings are on the horizon for our students. Whether graduating to the next year level or transitioning to work and tertiary education, new horizons – and summer holidays – beckon.
Welcome to the final issue of Community for 2024. Since our last newsletter, the college has busily prepared for the end of term while looking ahead to 2025. Over the past five weeks, we have announced our 2025 House and Specialist Captains, held our annual Performing Arts Showcase to rave reviews, farewelled two cohorts for the year, and quite a bit more besides.
The pages that follow hold a wealth of student achievement. You will certainly not want to miss updates from our featured Learning Areas: Religious Education, Technology, and The Arts. Although these three differ in many respects, they all shape and influence thought, culture, aspects of everyday life, and world events.
Prepare to be impressed and delighted by what you find on those pages, as well as by all our students' academic and extracurricular endeavours presented throughout Issue 8.
Class of 2024
Congratulations to our Year 12 students on successfully completing both their exams and their secondary education. Throughout the year, this cohort worked diligently to achieve their best, and in doing so inspired their fellow students to strive for excellence. They consistently displayed role model behaviour in line with our Core Values and motivated the college community to participate in our sporting carnivals and events.
I wish them all the best for the future and look forward to seeing them succeed, both in Sunraysia and further afield.
Compassion Leads to Justice
This past year, the college emphasised the Core Value of compassion, an essential element of the Mercy ethos upon which St Joseph’s College was founded 118 years ago, and which continues to direct the spiritual life of the college today.
In 2025, the college will celebrate the Year of Justice. We will explore ways to promote greater inclusivity and fairness in the spirit of Mercy, as entrusted to us by the Sisters of Mercy.
Thank You & Merry Christmas
My first three terms as College Principal have passed remarkably quickly. I have enjoyed taking on new responsibilities and embracing their challenges. It is a pleasure to lead a team of professionals who dedicate themselves to supporting Mildura's young people and providing them with a high-quality education and engaging experiences. I look forward to leading the college in 2025 and beyond.
Naturally, I must take this opportunity to thank our college families and all those who have supported St Joseph’s College over the past year. We greatly value the trust you place in us and appreciate your contributions to our college community.
On behalf of all of us here at the college, I wish you and your loved ones a very merry Christmas and a new year full of health and happiness.
In the spirit of hope and faith,
Mr Greg Kluske
College Principal
