With less than 4 weeks to go until our Fantastic Fete, we would love your help to get the word out!
FPS Fete is now on Instagram and Facebook (thank you Sophie!) with regular updates so if you’re on social media, please follow us and spread the word to your family, friends and networks!
The Nelson Alexander billboard is now up on George st and will soon be up on Napier st! We also have corflutes as well as A3, A4 and A6 hard copy posters available from Mary’s office if anyone would like to put one up in their front yard or window or local café or hand out to friends.

SILENT AUCTION LAUNCHING THIS FRIDAY 18th OCTOBER
Snap up cinema vouchers, shop for delicious chai or coffee beans or bid on one of many martial arts kids classes plus many more lovely products and vouchers. The link to the FPS Online Silent Auction is here so browse, register and start bidding this Friday 18th October to show your support.
Don’t forget to keep checking the auction site as new items will drop right up until the day of the Fete (9th Nov) including the highly anticipated FPS student art work thanks to Leah our wonderful Visual Arts Teacher.
If you know any local businesses who might like like to donate, feel free to provide them with a letter in English, French and our Donations flyer to provide them with more information about FPS and our fete. Or if you have any last minute items to add, please email fitzroyprimaryfete@gmail.com.

VOLUNTEER AND SIGN UP FOR A SHIFT AT THE FETE!
This fete would not be possible without our whole FPS community helping out on the day so if you can please sign up for at least 1 shift (or more if you can!), we would greatly appreciate it!

We’ll need help with setting up, managing stalls, running the sausage sizzle, monitoring rubbish. Please also scroll to the bottom and add your name if you can help with things like- Picking up and delivering marquees and trestle tables- Baking a cake or slice for the Bake Sale (our best profit spinner last year)- Making Lemonade & overseeing this stall- Taking on the role of Stage Manager for the entertainment- Donating to the raffle or Silent Auction- Making crepes- Donating a mystery bottle of wine

I SCREAM FOR ICE-CREAM!
Yes, that’s right! Frosty Boy has generously donated to us ice-cream for the fete which means that all FPS students will get one FREE ice-cream with their wrist band!
Huge thanks to Frosty Boy and to Coolray Refrigeration for the machine loan and of course Jason for organising this all!
FAIRYFLOSS/BARBE À PAPA BROUGHT TO YOU BY LA CRÊPE!
Who wants to make some barbe à papa? There will be a lot of fairyfloss making on fete day so please sign up on the volunteer sheet volunteersignup.org/AD4EM for a spin!
Big thanks to La Crêpe again for generously donating FPS a fairyfloss machine! Make sure you pay them a visit to show our deep appreciation for their support of FPS!
CALL OUT FOR JARS
If you have any large jars lying around, please bring them in and drop them to the front office so that we can organise a lucky dip for the kids!
LIVE ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCEMENT: CHIKCHIKA
We are absolutely stoked to announce that our feature band this year is Chikchika, which showcases renowned Oromo singer-songwriter Muluu Baqqalaa with Tigrinya vocalists Anbessa Gebrehiwot and Haftu Reda. Accompanied by traditional Eritrean and Ethiopian stringed instruments, the krar and masinko, Chikchika weave important stories of culture, love and peace into percussion heavy and up-tempo tunes. Multi-instrumentalist Dale Gorfinkel, and Michael McNab on the drum kit round out this new voice in Australian music.
In recent years Chikchika have been captivating crowds at prominent music festivals around Australia, such as Rising Festival with Tinawaren, WOMADelaide, Mona Foma, Sydney Festival, Leaps & Bounds, Dark Mofo, Panama Festival, and Brunswick Music Festival.

LIVE ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCEMENT: LA LA LA CHORALE
We are also excited to welcome La La La Chorale, Melbourne’s French Choir, at La Fête Fantastique! Founded in 1998 by Catrine Belatier, La La La celebrates the music and culture of the French Speaking world. Professionally directed by Paola Bastreri Grey, they sing largely acappella from Saint-Saëns and Debussy to 20th century jazz and traditional Congolese songs, they will have all of us singing along in French!
CALL OUT FOR GOOD QUALITY CLOTHES AND TOYS
Doing a Spring clean out? We are running a second hand goods stall selling:
- Good quality children's clothes
- Children’s toys (clean and in good condition)
- Crockery and ceramics (no chips or cracks please)
- Other good quality miscellaneous items (that are small and manageable!)

CALL OUT FOR BOOKS
A fete can’t be a fete without a book stall, so this is a call out for all those books that are clogging shelves in your house, just begging for a new home.
We’re looking for donations across genres and styles, from coffee table hardcovers to cookbooks to novels to picture books and any other style of book in between.
For all ages: adults, young adults, and kids.
New or preloved, but in good saleable condition (no tears and pen marks, missing pages, ripped cover, etc.) Colouring and stickers books welcome, if never used.
We would also love to offer books in all languages, especially languages relevant to our school community.
Please drop off during school hours at reception as soon as possible and by no later than Thursday 7th November.
CALL OUT FOR CRAFT, JEWELLERY AND HAND MADE ITEMS
If you, your kids or someone you know love making bracelets, earrings, necklaces, craft, bracelets or other hand-made items or have good quality items that you’d be willing to donate to the school, please drop off to Mary so that we can sell it at our Craft stall!
Badria has been showing parents how to make candles at and they look and smell amazing! They’ll be available for sale at the Craft stall for the Fete! Next parent meet up will be Tuesday 22nd October at 9:15am!
LIVE ENTERTAINMENT AND ACTIVITIES
We have a jam packed performance schedule on the day featuring our very own FPS students, the Tim TamZ (FPS parent band), Mzuri Dancers, Melbourne Djembe and much more!
Kids will also get an opportunity to do French Circus Workshops with Anthony, badge making with Fitzroy Library, craft with Almost French kindergarten and childcare, plantings with Bunnings, games with LeapKids, Jaffa Smash, “Our Languages” craft and exhibition, face painting, nail salon, henna as well as drum and dance workshops!

FOOD AND MARKET STALLS
We have a huge variety of delicious food and fabulous market stalls on offer thanks to our parent and carer community! On offer, we’ll have:
- La boulangerie (Bakery)
- Le Monde (world) sausage sizzle,
- African feast stall
- Lemonade stall,
- Crêperie
- Bake stall (sign up to bake something and we’ll send you the instructions!)
- Popcorn stall
- Ice-cream stall
- Lolly stall
- Fairyfloss stall
- Second hand books
- Second hand clothes and toys
- Jewellery and craft stall
- And more!
Plus, we’ll have external businesses, Frencheese offering delicious raclettes and a coffee cart!
HOW YOUR SUPPORT WILL HELP OUR COMMUNITY
All funds raised from the fête will build on the funds we raised last year to purchase FPS’ new George Street playground !
