This term students will have the opportunity to develop and improve their striking and fielding skills through the game of cricket. Sport will be school based and cricket sessions will begin next week Wednesday the 12th and run through to week 7 of term (Wednesday 12th of March). Sport for this week will be teacher led at school.
Our annual school swimming carnival will be next Wednesday the 19th of February (Week 4) at Werris Creek Swimming Pool, it is a day carnival to be held during school hours. Buses will pick students up from school at 9am, enabling normal school drop off for all students. The carnival will start at approximately 9:30am and conclude by 2:30pm. Students will then be brought back to school for normal afternoon travel arrangements.
We would love as many parents and family members to attend as possible and will still need volunteers to make the running of our carnival a success for our students. Please keep an eye out on Compass as this is where event nominations and permission will be requested. I will also be seeking some helpers on the day as will our amazing PT&F who will be running a BBQ for this event.
Our swimming carnival and fun day are focused on student participation and whilst there are competitive events for those who wish to enter, there are also many fun novelty events for students to engage in and develop a sense of team spirit with their colour houses. Even if your child doesn't swim, their colour house needs their voice to cheer! I will have extra helpers in the pool to assist our less confident students to participate in the fun of the day.
Swimming carnival events:
Swimming Nominations: when nominations are open, you will tick one event for each stroke that your child/ren wish to participate in (Freestyle - children can do 100m freestyle and 50m if they are capable): Students are not permitted to compete in the novelty events if they have nominated to swim in more than one 25m or 50m event. Kindergarten students can participate in novelty events and 10m events as well, if they are capable.
All 10m event swimmers will have a helper in their lane and can use a pool noodle to assist them during the event.

ROAD Safety
The beginning of the school year is an important time to remind your children about road safety. The PDH & PE curriculum covers road safety each year and I encourage you to discuss the key road safety messages below with your children.
