Welcome back to the 2025 school year! I hope you have had a restful break and enjoyed some quality time reconnecting with family. My name is Eva Tomazos and I am the Deputy Principal and Learning Diversity Leader. I am passionate about working with students with diverse needs, supporting them in reaching their full potential, and creating an inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive.
What is Learning Diversity?
Diversity includes all students regardless of their physical, social, emotional, or cultural characteristics, and it should be noted that they are not mutually exclusive. The term ‘learning diversity’ describes the vast array of life experiences and qualities that a child brings to their formal education in school. Every staff member at a school has a shared responsibility for the education of the students, and all students should be engaged members of their school community.
At St. Kevin’s we will support all students to flourish, and intervene as early as possible to meet the individual needs and abilities of each student. We celebrate the uniqueness and dignity of each person and build respectful, collaborative relationships between students, teachers, families and the broader community.
In my role as the Learning Diversity Leader, I will ensure that teachers and staff are inclusive, foster an environment that embraces the education of all students regardless of their cultural background, socio-economic status, learning needs, exceptional ability or disability, and create educational communities that celebrate diversity.
As the Learning Diversity Leader, I support staff to modify learning experiences and assessments to meet the individual child’s needs, ensuring they progress along the learning continuum at their own pace. I will work closely with teachers and families to formulate Personalised Learning Plans (PLP) when students’ learning needs cannot be met by the standard curriculum.
In my role, I will liaise with health and allied health professionals to support students within the classroom setting and attend Parent Support Group (PSG) meetings in order to work with families to ensure the educational needs of students are met and made transparent.
I look forward to working with families in my role and in the next few weeks I will contact families to begin the process of PSG meetings.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns or feel free to pop in and see me for a chat.
Kind regards,
Eva Tomazos
