Principal's Report

Dear Edgars Creek Community,
On behalf of the community, I would like to welcome you to our first Newsletter for the year. Welcome back to our established families, and a big welcome to our parents, guardians of our new year 7s and our new parents to Edgars Creek. As a college, we value communication with our parents and carers, and this is just one way that we like to keep you updated on what is happening in our school.
I am not wanting to jinx it, but we are excited to report that we have commenced the 2025 school year with a full house of teachers. All classes currently have a permanent teacher. I know that many parents will be happy to hear this news. As a Victorian government school, we are in a fortunate position, many schools still have a high number of teacher vacancies. In 2025 we have several new teachers starting with us, please join me in welcoming the following staff to college:
- Sanjeshni Deo - Food Technology
- Albion Abdullah - Health / PE
- Jessica Grech - Ceramics / Studio Arts
- Peter Argiropoulos - Humanities
- Lalita Chawla - Maths / Science
- Grace McKerras - English / Humanities
- Elodie Lee Fok Tong - Performing Arts / Drama
- Lachlan Edwards - English

ECSC promotes continual Staff Professional Growth
Professional Learning and Growth is an important part of a teacher's life here at ECSC, research indicated that continual teacher development leads to continual school growth and improvement.
Congratulations Edward Ruthven
As a school, we value our staff and their professional learning and development, and the positive impacts this has on student outcomes and school improvement. We are proud to share that Edward Ruthven has been selected as an outstanding educator, and is currently working with the Academy of Teaching Leadership to further develop his skills in teaching excellence that will translate to his direct classroom teaching work but also the support of the development of his peers.
Congratulations Zac Anderson
As an Assistant Principal, and having done an amazing job in 2024 acting as Principal in my absence during term 4, Zac decided to further his understanding of the role of the Principal and has been selected to participate in the Unlocking Potential program through the Academy of Teaching and Leadership. The UP program is designed to support Assistant Principals on their journey towards a Principal position.
I am sure we will benefit from the learning both Edward and Zac take away from their respective programs.
May I wish our community a successful end of term 1, and I look forward to reporting about our many successes as the year progresses.
Best wishes,
Adam Smith
College Principal
