Naa Marni
Welcome back to the new school year. My name is Sue Dunn and I am the Aboriginal Education teacher (AET). I work with Jharni Perry, the Aboriginal Community Education Officer (ACEO). This is my sixth year in this position. I work with students individually and in small groups throughout the school in Literacy and Maths and provide resources to the teaching staff for First Nations perspectives in the curriculum.
Hi, my name is Jharni Perry, I’m the Aboriginal Community Education Officer (ACEO). I am a proud South Eastern/Tanganekald and Arrente woman. I have been living in the southern suburbs for almost 4 years now after growing up in the western suburbs. I’m a mum to two beautiful boys and my partner and I currently care for some of his brothers as well. My family comes from Kingston SE and Jay Creek (NT). I look forward to working at Hackham East Primary School for another year and connecting with all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and making sure our voices are heard and our needs are met.
We are based in the Cultural Hub in Stillwell building. Students are able to come to our room on Wednesday lunch time to participate in cultural activities. We organise excursions for First Nations students and incursions for the whole school.
There is a new First Nations Corner in the Resource Centre (see picture below) and we are planning a Meet and Greet for First Nations families after school at 3:15 on Wednesday 19th February with an afternoon tea. Ms Sally and Mrs Kemp will be attending. More information will be sent out next week. Hope to see you there.
Regards
Sue Dunn (AET)
Jharni Perry (ACEO)
