Learning Diversity

All students, regardless of race, age or gender, by virtue of their dignity as human persons, have a right to an education suited to their particular needs and adapted to their ability. (Pope Paul VI 1965)
St. Fidelis is committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment where every student is valued and supported. Inspired by the belief that all children have the right to an education suited to their unique needs, we embrace learning diversity in all its forms—cultural, academic, social, emotional, and physical.
Our teachers use evidence-based strategies to ensure students of all backgrounds and abilities thrive. Whether addressing sensory needs, language development, medical conditions, giftedness, or emotional well-being, we tailor our approach to optimise student success.
Collaboration with families is key to our approach. Through strong partnerships and personalised support, we strive to create a school community where every child can grow, achieve, and reach their full potential.
Program Support Group (PSG) meetings help ensure that students who require additional support receive the best education tailored to their needs.
A PSG is a team effort involving parents, teachers, and relevant professionals to support students academically, socially, emotionally, and overall well-being. These meetings focus on setting shared goals, reviewing progress, and planning necessary learning adjustments documented in a Personalised Learning Plan (PLP).
A PSG may be established for a student when:
Through collaboration, the PSG:
✔ Identifies the student’s strengths and areas for growth
✔ Reviews learning plans and necessary adjustments
✔ Seeks specialist advice when needed
✔ Ensures a personalised approach to student success.
At St. Fidelis, learning diversity isn’t just something we acknowledge—it’s at the heart of everything we do.
