Marist Card and Games Day

The P&F will be hosting our next Marist Card and Games Day on Wednesday, 19 February.

The Card & Games Day is a community event held in the Br Cyprian Pavilion where attendees (typically retirees) bring friends to enjoy a day of playing cards (e.g, Bridge), Mahjong, Scrabble or other board games, while savouring morning tea provided by Marist families and lunch provided by the College kitchen. New table bookings (up to 4 people per table) are always welcome.

To make these days a success, the P&F needs parent helpers to assist with baking or supplying items for morning tea and/or attending on the day to set up and serve our guests.

If you can assist with sweet or savoury baked goods (we have a warming oven), they can be dropped off at the Br Cyprian Pavilion from 8:00am (or sent in with your son). Disposable containers are preferred but other containers will be sent back to Student Administration if not collected on the day (please ensure your name is on all containers).

Please either pre‑cut items or ensure that they can be cut into bitesize pieces.

Volunteers for the day are needed for the following sessions:

  • 8:00am – 10:30am – setup and serve morning tea
  • 11:30am – 1:30pm – setup and serve lunch
  • 2:00pm – 2:30pm – final clean-up and pack down

Volunteers are most welcome to assist for all or part of the day.  It is a great way to meet other parents from many different year levels, as well as contributing to an enjoyable day for guests from the community.

We also conduct a raffle for which items are sought from parents or businesses (e.g. movie tickets, wine, coffee, chocolates, nice-smelling things, vouchers, etc.). They can be sent into Student Administration in the week leading up to Card & Games Day.

If you are able to help by baking/supplying items for morning tea, assisting on the day, or providing an item for the raffle, please contact Sue Hartfiel (0423 076 603) or Ann Rainbow (0411 482 792) at email: CardDayPandF@marash.qld.edu.au.

Please also contact us if you know of anyone (perhaps grandparents) who would like to attend Card and Games Day (they must bring 1-3 friends to make a table, $25 per person paid by EFTPOS Only (no cash) on the day).

Parents of Neurodiverse Learners

The Parents of Neurodiverse Learners are having a dinner meet up, on Saturday 22 February from 6:00pm.

Contact Michelle Lawson via Messenger or tickets@bizibeans.com.au to join the Parents of Neurodiverse Learners Facebook Group and RSVP for the dinner. (Please note, the Group has chosen not to define neurodiversity so there are no diagnostic criteria to be met for inclusion.)

P&F 2025

The P&F wishes everyone a warm welcome back for 2025 – and extends a special welcome to new parents and carers to the College.

If you are wondering where to start to get involved with the College community in 2025, we have our AGM coming up on Monday 17 February. Everyone is welcome. The AGM is a great place to meet some new people and find out what all the different P&F groups do.

Sub-committees

The P&F co-ordinate a long list very active sub-committees that are always happy for more hands or participants:

Executive roles

  • Nominations for Executive positions for 2025 are open (until Sunday 9 February 2025) - President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary.

Special asks for 2025

  • Do you have a background in:
  • Fundraising
  • Events management, or
  • Digital marketing?

These skills are always in high demand to support our many event-based activities and respective communications – Amity, Walkathon, Sports Canteens, and Card Days in particular.

  • We would also love to hear from anyone who has (or is willing to do) their RSA to join the wonderful pool of Amity volunteers who manage the year level parent functions on Friday nights. You can pick which functions you attend so it can be as small or as large a commitment as you choose.

More information?

Please reach out directly to any of the current P&F executive or sub-committees if you would like more information. Email secretarypandf@marash.qld.edu.au if you would like us to put you in touch.
