Head Lice

Some cases of Head Lice have been reported in recent days.  Head lice are very common, so there is no need to be alarmed.  However, children should be treated quickly to prevent lice from spreading.  We are asking that all parents examine their child/ren’s hair and look for the following signs:

  • Persistent scratching, particularly behind the ears and the nape of the neck, accompanied by a red rash.
  • Tiny silver white eggs at the base of the hair shaft.
  • Small pale brown lice. You may wish to use a magnifying glass and a fine tooth comb under strong light to help identify lice.

Head lice can be treated quickly and effectively by simply following these steps:

  • Purchase a specialist head lice treatment and apply it according to the directions on the pack.
  • Examine all family members’ hair and treat everyone found to have head lice.
  • Wash out the treatment and use a fine tooth comb to remove the dead lice and eggs.
  • Repeat the treatment: in 7-10 days

Please note that children are able to attend school once  they have been treated.

School Parking

A REMINDER FROM THE CITY OF GREATER BENDIGO

The City understands that school pick up and drop off times can be especially busy and stressful for motorists. Road safety is especially important in the areas around our schools. Slow down and take extra care when driving in school zones, especially during school hours. Always park your car in a designated parking space.

When dropping off and collecting children from school do not stop:

  • In No Stopping areas
  • On nature strips
  • Too close to, or on school crossings
  • Over driveways
  • Beside another parked car (double parking)

Please remember that parking rules around schools are designed to ensure safety through maintaining pedestrian and motorist visibility, traffic flow and accessibility.

Be advised that parking inspectors continually monitor parking in Havelock Street.

While parking availability is regularly limited directly adjacent to school entrances, ample parking is often available within a short walk of the school. Where possible we encourage parents and carers to organise with their children to meet them at a location within walking distance of the school.
