Wellbeing

My name is Jenny Parkes, and my role this year will be as the Wellbeing and Inclusion Leader. I will be working alongside staff to implement whole-school wellbeing initiatives. These include the Department of Education program priorities of Positive Classroom Management Strategies, School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS), and the Respectful Relationships program.

School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) is an evidence-based school improvement approach that creates a positive and supportive learning environment for all students. It focuses on teaching and reinforcing positive behaviours while providing targeted assistance to students who may need extra support, leading to a more successful and inclusive learning community.

The Positive Classroom Management Strategies fit within the SWPBS framework. They consist of 8 evidence-informed instructional practices designed to create safer, more purposeful learning environments. These practices support student learning and wellbeing through teaching positive behaviours.

The Respectful Relationships program supports schools and early childhood settings to promote and model respect, positive attitudes, and behaviours. It teaches children how to build healthy relationships, resilience, and confidence.

I will also support teachers and students within the classroom and provide individual support where required. The Friendship Group will continue to run twice a week during lunchtime. This is a great opportunity for students to connect and take some time out of the busy playground in a calm and supportive environment.

My working days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, and I am available via email to answer any questions or queries you may have. I look forward to working with both students and families throughout the year.
