Assistant Principal's Report

Georgia Despotellis

I hope the summer holidays offered you some well-deserved time to unwind and recharge, and that you had the chance to spend quality moments with family and friends. My husband and I were fortunate enough to escape to Bali, where we experienced some wonderfully humid weather!

We’ve had a very smooth start to the 2025 school year, and it was heartwarming to see all our happy students and their families walking through the school gates on Thursday—especially our new Prep students and families.

A warm welcome also goes out to all new students and families joining us this year. We’re so glad to have you as part of the Caulfield South Primary School community!

Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve enjoyed visiting the classrooms and spending time with our students. The atmosphere is calm and focused, and our CSPS Start Up Program has provided teachers with the essential time to set up a welcoming learning environment and establish important routines. A big thank you to our dedicated teachers for ensuring such a positive start to the school year!

I look forward to working together with all of you to make the 2025 school year a successful one.

Swimming

Congratulations to our Year 3 and 5 students for completing the intensive one-week swimming program at GESAC. The program ran smoothly, and we are incredibly proud of the way our students represented our school. A big thank you to our staff for their hard work, and to Mr. Wink for his excellent organisation in ensuring a positive experience for everyone. The Year 4 and 6 students will swim next week.

Wellbeing – Chill Out Zone

We are excited to announce the rebranding of our Quiet Space, now known as the Chill Out Zone (COZ for short). Your children may have mentioned this new space recently.

In the Chill Out Zone, we’ve invested in a range of resources designed to support students in developing their social skills and interacting with their peers. This dedicated area provides a safe, calming environment for those who find the playground a bit overwhelming and need some time to relax or regroup.

The Chill Out Zone offers a space where students can take a break and recharge when they need to step away from the bustle of the playground. We hope this area helps foster a supportive and positive atmosphere for all our students.

Student Safety

As we begin the new school year, I’d like to take a moment to remind all parents and students about the parking and school crossings around our busy school.

The Glen Eira Council has created a short, animated video that provides valuable information on parking signs, how the school crossing operates, and tips for promoting safety around schools. It’s a great 2.5 minute watch that also encourages students to walk or ride to school, even if it’s just from a few blocks away, to reduce traffic congestion, promote healthy activity, and support the environment.

Please also be aware that there have been some changes to the parking restrictions outside the school.
