Engagement & Wellbeing

Resilience, Rights & Respectful Relationships:
In 3/4 Lidgett this week, we talked about what makes a good friend. We played the Mirror Game where students paired up and ‘mirrored’ each other’s actions. This helped us think in more concrete ways about some of the ways we can be a good friend.
Some of the things we thought of after playing the game:
“Friends are helpful. We do stuff to help each other out.”
“Good friends don’t try to make it harder for each other.”
“Good friends can have a bit of a laugh at each other and we don’t get angry over it.”
This also helped us think about other characteristics of good friends:
“We are good friends by asking what they want to do so its not always just what I want to do.”
“Good friends are good listeners.”
“We make sure that our friends aren’t left out in games.”
We talked a little about how brave you sometimes need to be to stand up for our friends if they are being left out and how hard this can be.

Gugu Whole School Display
We are very excited to finally have our Gugu display cabinet installed outside the office. This is where each class will add a piece to the Gugu Puzzle when they have achieved a class reward. The display is empty at the moment, however classes will begin to add jigsaw pieces next week for each class reward they achieve.
Don't forget to check our progress as the term continues.
Gugu Whole School Rewards
Over the last week, students across the school have had their say about what they think would be suitable whole school rewards. As students earn Gugu stickers in class or in the yard for displaying positive behaviours, these stickers contribute to both a class reward and a whole school reward. This encourages students to be proud of their own achievements and the achievements of their classmates and peers.
Students have suggested a variety of level 1 and level 2 whole school rewards. If, as a school, we achieve 30 class rewards, this will earn us the Level 1 whole school reward. If we keep up the awesomeness and get a whopping 50 class ewards, this will earn us the Level 2 reward.
After collecting all the student suggestions, students were surveyed for which they thought the best ideas were. The winning whole school rewards wil be announced at assembly on Friday.
