Leadership's Letter

Junior School

Welcoming our new Year 7’s to Mazenod

The start of the school year is always an exciting time, and this year has been no exception as we warmly welcomed 280 new Year 7 students to Mazenod College. With fresh uniforms, eager faces, and a mix of excitement and nervousness, the newest members of our school community embarked on their high school journey with great enthusiasm.

In Term 1 our classroom focus is on ‘Belonging’ and the students have been undertaking a range of ice-breaker opportunities to get to know their classmates and teachers. In addition, we warmly welcomed the parents and carers to an Information Evening, which included the opportunity to spend some time with their son’s Pastoral Leader in the Pastoral Room.

This year we welcomed a 10th Pastoral Group to Mazenod College - 7 Davine, named in honour of Fr Kevin Davine OMI. We were delighted to welcome Fr Davine back to the College to meet the students of 7 Davine and share his wisdom and experience to a new generation.

Gathering together as a Year Level

This year we have introduced a Tuesday ‘Gathering’ in each of the Year Level areas during Pastoral Time. These briefings are designed to strengthen the sense of belonging and unity among the students in the Year Level by celebrating achievements, encouraging positive behaviour and enhancing student voice. Our student leaders' roles will grow as they are provided opportunities to organise, present and lead activities.

Junior School Captains and Prefects

Congratulations to the following Year 9 students who were nominated by their peers and endorsed by their teachers as leaders of the Junior School for 2025.

I am extremely excited to be able to work with the leadership team this year and have an impact on making the junior school better than ever. It has been an honour to be the recipient of this role and I'm most certainly delighted to be able to contribute my values and ideas to the team. - Phoenix Robins (Junior School Vice Captain)

I am filled with joy to work alongside both Phoenix and the leadership team to add on from the amazing work of the previous leadership group. It is a privilege to be the next junior school captain. I am extremely excited to listen and work with students and staff and share the values of respect, honesty and integrity to have a strong impact within the junior school community. - Cooper Bartlett (Junior School Captain).
