Dad's & Carer's Camp - Early collection times

We wish the many SKiPPS students and families who are heading to Dads' Camp this weekend all the best.

We know that many dads and carers are keen to pick your children up early from school on Friday to beat the traffic and get the equipment and tents in place.

Should you choose to do this, we ask if you could collect your child at either 10:40am or 1:05pm. These times are aligned with the scheduled break times and would eliminate disruption to classes and the learning of other children.

A reminder that Dads Camp is not a school event and no staff are involved in the organisation or running of the camp. Supervision and liability for the camp is entirely up to the parents attending.

End of Term Arrangements

As we hurtle towards the end of the year, we wanted to confirm a few arrangements for the end of the year;

Final Transition/Meet the Teacher Day - Wednesday 17th December

  • On the afternoon of Wednesday 17th December (2-3pm), students will move into their final 2026 classes and meet their teacher for next year.

End of Year Reports released - Thursday 18th December

  • Our Semester Two student reports will be released on Compass on the afternoon of Thursday 18th December. These reports provide families with an understanding of their child's performance against the Victorian Curriculum progression points and teacher comments on their learning and behaviour for the second half of the school year.
  • For those students leaving SKIPPS at the end of this year, please note your COMPASS access will be cut-off on the evening of Friday 19th December. Please ensure you download or print any School Reports, tax receipts and other information you require from COMPASS before this date.

Final Day - Friday 19th December

  • On the final day of the year, we will hold two assemblies - one at 9am to share celebrations, performances and Year 6 Leadership awards.
  • We will then hold a final assembly at 1:15pm for our Year 6s to be formally farewelled and for them to perform their leaving song to the school.
  • School finishes at 1:30pm on the final day of the year - please ensure you have made arrangements for an early pick-up or booked into Team Kids.

Team Kids will also be available for supervision of your child during the school holidays and on the Pupil-Free days listed below.

The full program for the Team Kids Holiday Program can be found under the Team Kids page in this newsletter.

Christmas candy canes & lollies

With Christmas fast approaching, many students are kindly sharing cards with their classmates and these are often accompanied by a sugary candy cane (or other sugary treat) as a gift.

When these are handed out in the yard before school begins, children naturally want to open them and eat them immediately. Not only is this a dentist's worst nightmare, but it also takes away a parent's ability to choose and monitor what their child is eating during the day and goes against our rules around sharing of food at school.

Without wanting to appear grinch-like, we are asking students to hand out and share their cards and candy canes at the very end of each day so they can be put into bags and brought home to allow parents to make decisions about if and when the sugary canes are consumed.

Teachers will support and monitor this taking place.  We thank you for your support and understanding on this matter.

Final Run Club of 2025 - This Friday

This Friday morning (12th December) will be our final Run Club for the year. There will be no Run Club on the final day of school (19 Dec).

Certificates for Run Club for those who have reached recent milestones, including any achieved this Friday will be presented at the morning assembly on the last day of school.

Last chance to claim Lost Property

Such is the weight of discarded and forgotten jumpers, coats, tops and other lost property at SKiPPS that our lost property rack buckled and collapsed this week.

To help us resolve this pressing OH&S issue, please take a few minutes at drop-off or pick-up to visit the lost property area (just off the quadrangle near the Year 3 classrooms) and take home anything that belongs to your child.

As always, any lost property unclaimed by the 19th December, will be collected and donated to charity.
