Year 7 News

As the year draws to a close, the 7/8 Team would like to take a moment to reflect on all we’ve achieved together. From camps, excursions, and programs to everyday classes, this year has been filled with growth, resilience, and a strong sense of our school pillars. In this final newsletter of the year, we celebrate our students’ achievements and look ahead to what’s in store for next year. Thank you for being such an integral part of our school journey.
Year in Review
Looking back, it’s heartwarming to remember how nervous our Year 7 students were as they began their high school journey—unsure of what to expect but ready to take the leap. Now, as they transition into Year 8, they do so with newfound confidence and a deeper connection to their school community. It’s a wonderful reminder of how much growth and resilience can happen in just one year.
Before we knew it, we were taking the Year 7 students on camp to Camp Coolamatong. Our students conducted themselves wonderfully and demonstrated resilience as they embraced the camp activities, building friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.
Throughout the year, Year 7 students have actively represented our school in a variety of events, including SRC, Sport, KAAP, Arts & Technology, and Kurnai’s Got Talent. They also participated in Tech School excursions and contributed to school-wide fundraising events such as pyjama and sports colour days. It has been a privilege to watch the youngest members of our learning community engage, shine, and make their mark.
As we look ahead to 2026, we are excited to continue building on these successes, supporting our students to grow academically, socially, and personally. Well done to all students, and thank you to our families for your ongoing support.
Head Start
Head Start begins next Monday the 1st of December. This is when students will begin working with their 2026 classes and teachers. Headstart plays a vital role in ensuring a smooth transition into the next year—it allows students to become familiar with new expectations, routines, and subject areas, setting them up for success from day one in 2026. Students will have an assembly on Monday and receive their timetables.
The Year 8 Team Leader for 2026 is Elise Burke. If you have any concerns, please contact Elise Burke at (03) 5165 0600 - option 2 or elise.burke@education.vic.gov.au
End of Year
To celebrate the end of the year, students are also looking forward to the College-Wide Celebration Day at Gumbuya World and the College Awards Ceremony, recognising the effort and achievements of our students. We also have two onsite activity days planned to finish the term with fun and connection.
Wishing you and your families a joyful holiday season and a well-earned break.
