Griffins Basketball
We’re now into Round Seven of the season, and our Griffins teams are continuing to impress each week. It’s been wonderful to see players growing in confidence, improving their skills, and really enjoying being part of their teams.
Gym Training Reminder
Due to end-of-year events, the gym will be closed from Wednesday 3 December for one week. The outside courts will remain available for use during this time.
Coaches are reminded to bring their coaching bags and balls, as there will be strictly no access to the gym.

Team Highlights
U12 Boys - Blazers
The Blazers fought hard in a tough game on Saturday. While the scoreboard didn’t quite show how closely matched the teams were, the boys should be proud of their determination and teamwork on the court. Thanks to coaches Jordan and Lachie.
Under 10 Boys - Knicks
The boys keep growing each week and getting better and better. Their teamwork is wonderful to watch, and Brett does an amazing job leading them. Great work, Knicks!
U19 Boys - Jets
Our U19 Boys Div 3 team is made up of players who have mostly never played together before — with some brand new to basketball altogether. Over the past few weeks, the boys have been working hard on developing their skills and learning how to gel as a team.
While the scoreboard hasn’t always been in their favour, their commitment has never wavered. They show up every week, ready to give their all.
And then last week happened — a 39–35 victory, their first win of the season!
We are incredibly proud of their effort, resilience and determination. Hard work truly pays off.
Under 14 Girls - Stars
The U14 Stars certainly lived up to their name on Monday. Despite the sweltering heat, the team played a fantastic game and secured a solid win over Sonics Grey.
It’s been wonderful to watch this group continue to grow together and support one another each week.
A big thank you to coaches John and Victoria for their guidance and encouragement.
Raiders News
The Raiders State Championships 2025 are underway, and this weekend our Griffins Raiders U13 Girls took to the court. Coco, Georgina, Alexis and Bronte proudly represented the Griffins with determination and great team spirit.
The team finished the weekend with one win and five losses, gaining valuable experience and learning a great deal from the high-level competition. Well done, girls!
A big congratulations also to Marley Cox, another Griffins player, who competed in the Under 18 Boys State Championships last weekend. Fantastic work!
Griffins Soccer
Planning for next season is already underway, and we are excited to share some upcoming changes. The Albany Junior Soccer Association is proposing a girls-only soccer league for next year. The new girl’s league is aiming to offer U8, U10, U12, U14 and U17 leagues in addition to the existing mixed competition. This will allow Griffin’s female players the option to play exclusively in the newly proposed girls league, the existing mixed competition, or both.

2026 Griffins Girls Only Soccer League Nominations
Nominations for the upcoming season for all junior and senior players are now open - 2026 Griffins Soccer Nominations
To help get the season up and running, the committee is also looking for a Secretary and a Registrar. The existing secretary and registrar will remain on the committee in 2026 to support new committee members in these roles. If you’re keen to volunteer, please email soccer.chairperson@griffins.org.au.
Griffins Netball Trials – Save the Date
The Great Southern Griffins Netball Club has confirmed trial dates for the upcoming season. Our committee is already preparing for another strong year, and we invite interested players to note the following trial sessions:
D Grade (Up to Year Six)

A Grade (Year Ten and above)
- Saturday 7 February 2026
- Saturday 21 February
- 2.30pm to 5.00pm
- Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre
B Grade (Years Seven to Nine)

Griffins Merchandise and Uniforms
Players can order the Griffins training gear and supporter merchandise from the Griffins site Shop - Great Southern Griffins. A range of hoodies, tops, pants and accessories are available to buy. There are limited stocks of hoodies, but more will be added at the end of the month.
