Ripple effect
Over the past few days, I have spoken with GSG families who have been impacted by the Ravensthorpe fire. In the midst of tragedy, our families have spoken about the spirit of their community, the warmth that exists between each person and their ongoing resilience and strength built from shared experiences over numbers of years.
In contrast with this tumultuous week, the school is preparing for final year celebrations; acknowledging achievement and contribution, while pointing to Christmas, the sacred day marking the birth of Jesus Christ.
As I reflect today, I am reminded of the following bible verse from 1 Corinthians 12:26:
'If one part suffers, every part suffers with it. If one part is praised, every part rejoices with it.'
This is a reminder of the 'ripple effect' that exists in communities in times of sorrow and in times of great joy. It is a reflection of our connected relationships and the social impact of shared experience.
In this last Anchor of the year, I would like to take a moment to express my gratitude to our staff for their commitment, their engagement, their feedback, and their motivation to shape the continued growth of our school for the betterment of our young people.
I wish to congratulate our students for another year of personal learning achievement, seeking to be their best, nurturing positive friendships and engaging in the full life of school.
I also wish to acknowledge the strong partnership that exists between the school and families. I thank families for entrusting their children into our care for the purpose of providing a quality and valued-centred education.
Lastly, to all members of our community, may you and your loved ones receive the blessings of peace, joy, hope and love this Christmas.
May you stay safe, take time to make memories with family and friends, and I look forward to welcoming you all back to school in 2026.
Go well
